Messi move to Manchester slashed to 4/1 as City plot mega-bid

Newspaper rumours has seen the odds cut for the superstar reunite with Pep Guardiola

Manchester City are said to be weighing up a whopping £200m “financial package” for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi according to media reports this morning.

The move would obviously be the most expensive in the history of world football and could be more likely given that the 29-year-old’s Barca contract runs in 2018.

The superstar footballer has a staggering £215m buy-out clause, which comes to an end after World Cup 2018 in Russia and City reportedly feel a bid now could force Barcelona into a decision over fears Messi would be able to leave for nothing.

All the best football odds are on

A potential transfer would see the Argentine reunited with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, with whom he won two Champions League titles, three La Ligas and two club World Cup crowns under during Pep’s time at the Nou Camp.

City are said to be considering a transfer fee well in excess of £100m for Messi, as well as wages of around £500,000 per week as they bid to convince Messi to swap Spain’s sunny east coast for Manchester.

Amid rumours last week that the five-time Ballon d’Or award winner had turned down a new Barca contract our traders opened the book on a possible next move for him. Following today’s news, a move to City has forced them to cut it as a ‘Mesxit’ could be likely.
