12.30pm: Ross Smith v Dirk van Duijvenbode – Smith to Win
Ross Smith looks the more consistent option here to beat his Dutch opponent Dirk van Duijvenbode and progress to the 4th round. The clash brings together two of the highest-scoring players on the tour but I think it could be the doubles that are crucial to deciding the tie.
Van Duijvenbode has struggled massively on his doubles recently hitting only 11/45 in his 2nd round tie v Boris Koltsov. Smith has looked more consistent on the outer ring and that will be the key to his victory here, I believe.
3.30pm: Florian Hempel v Raymond Smith – Hempel Most 180s, High Checkout & Win
Florian Hempel v Raymond Smith sees two surprise packages of the tournament meeting here and I think the impressive German can complete a comfortable win. His performance beating 5th seed Dimitri van den Bergh was one of the best of the tournament and he can continue that form here.
He has 7 180s in the tournament to Smith’s 3 and has also taken out a 158 checkout so the price for him to have most 180s, high checkout and win looks tempting.
7pm: James Wade v Vincent van der Voort – Van der Voort most 180s and Win
I’m going for a minor surprise here with the big Dutchman taken to beat the no.4 seed as James Wade and Vincent van der Voort go at it. Despite that seeding Wade has a very poor record here and an 83 average in his opening game would give further cause for concern in his camp. Van der Voort can also take out most 180s where he outscores Wade on the tour. It’s an attractive price for Van der Voort to have the most 180s and Win the match.
8pm: Gerwyn Price v Kim Huybrechts – Price to win (-2.5) sets
The defending champion Gerwyn Price has made a slow start in his opening round game v Ritchie Edhouse but improved as the game went on and finished with an impressive 101 average. The serious stuff starts now and Price will be looking to lay down a marker to those coming after his crown. I think he’ll produce a performance worthy of a champion and claim a comfortable victory over Kim Huybrechts, so Price to win (-2.5) sets.
