The world number four does not come into this tournament in the best form, with Dimitri van den Bergh’s doubling proving a particular issue in recent tournaments. It’s therefore worth taking a chance on Florian Hempel, who took out a big win over his compatriot Martin Schindler in the firstst round, to spring a bit of a surprise here.
Hempel has had an impressive first year on the PDC circuit, with his Tour average ranking in the top 30. Make no mistake, he is a dangerous opponent for Dancing Dimi in this contest.

I believe it’s worth siding with Devon Petersen here despite him having a poor year after a very impressive campaign in 2020. The South African has struggled undoubtably, but I still reckon he can get the better of his Australian opponent here. Raymond Smith played well in dispatching Jamie Hughes on Saturday, but I’m not sure he can maintain that form and Petersen looks the more solid option.
