Sunday’s Wimbledon 2022 men’s final sees a meeting of two players at the top of their game who are also right up there in the controversial sportspeople world rankings. It is, of course, Novak Djokovic v Nick Kyrgios.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
Both players’ perceived crimes are well documented but come in very different fields so pick your poison. It’s an intriguing match up with Kyrgios probably playing the best stuff of his career and showing maturity in the second week of the tournament we couldn’t have imagined in our wildest dreams throughout the first.
Djokovic hasn’t been at his brilliant best over the last fortnight but he’s done whatever’s been required to get to the final and now has a great chance at another Major title and a 4th consecutive Wimbledon crown. It would be Kyrgios first ever Major, so does he want it more? Let’s try and work it out with your 3 best bets for the final.

Over 38.5 Total Match Games
While Djokovic is the big favourite I can’t see him rolling his Aussie opponent over with ease here. Not only is the Serb slightly below his best but Kyrgios is flying at the moment after a bumpy, tremulous take off in week one.
Djokovic started slowly in the quarters and the semis, losing the first two sets to Jannik Sinner in the last eight and the first last time out against Cam Norrie. Kyrgios will be fresh and fit after Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal gave him a walkover in the semis following a fairly straightforward three-set win in the quarters back on Wednesday. I can see this going to distance so Over 38.5 Total Match Games feels a good play.
Nick Kyrgios to Win the first set 6-2, 6-3 OR 6-4
Given Djokovic’s slow starts of late I think Nick Kyrgios to Win the first set 6-2, 6-3 OR 6-4 is well worth a go. I can see the Aussie breaking the No.1 seed as he comes racing out of the blocks.
In the semi it took Norrie to win the first set to kick Djokovic into life and we could see something similar here. In a match that is, I think, much closer than the prices suggest, Nick Kyrgios to Win the first set 6-2, 6-3 OR 6-4 could have a great chance.
Nick Kyrgios wins the match and both players win a set
I’ll put my neck on the line and have a little flutter on Nick Kyrgios to win the match and both players win a set. I think there’s a great chance we see Both Players Win a Set as outlined above but it just feels like Kyrgios has some serious momentum now. It’s also worth mentioning that these two have met twice with the Aussie winning on both occasions.
He looks to have sorted the top two inches out after a bonkers first week and will have had three days’ rest after a three setter in the quarters. Novak feels a little underpriced as he’s giving his opponents opportunities and Kyrgios is in the form of his life. The big thing with him is the headspace which appears to be in decent shape at the moment so he might just cause a shock on Centre Court on Sunday.
