An episode of ‘Border Security: Australia’s Front Line’ starring Novak Djokovic has been nominated for a Golden Globe, Paddy Power News can reveal.
The gripping episode of the factual documentary series centres around Djokovic’s numerous failed attempts to convince Australian immigration officials that being the world’s No1 tennis player is a real medical exemption.

At the end of the episode the Serbian is bundled into the back of a waiting van along with an Irishman accused of smuggling 47 packets of Tayto crisps in his luggage, before being whisked away to a Melbourne detention centre.
Such has been the global response to the show, Hollywood’s Foreign Press Association announced it would be restoring ‘Best Documentary’ to its list of categories having previously retired the award in 1976.

“Our favourite part was when Novak blamed the whole confusion on his agent for ticking the wrong box on the visa application. What a twist,” said a spokesperson on behalf of the Hollywood Foreign Press.
Meanwhile, despite missing out on the Australian Open, Djokovic’s manager confirmed his client will enter a Pong competition organised by detainees at the immigration hotel where he is being held.
It’s understood the 34-year old will enter the ‘Melbourne Immigration Hotel Pong Invitational’ as the No.1 seed but could yet be ejected from the tournament for not having the correct medical exemption.
“There’s an old Atari arcade machine from the 70s in the lobby,” Djokovic’s manager told Paddy Power News.
“It’s in full working order. Although one of the joysticks has seen a bit of action. Novak’s been working on his front paddle the past few days in training and it’s really coming on.”
Asked if he was confident that Djokovic would secure his first-ever Pong Invitational, he added: ‘I’ve more confidence in him winning this than ever getting a visa again, put it that way.”
