Tuesday 19:00 Elina Svitolina v Leylah Annie Fernandez: Svitolina To Win 2-1 In Sets

Elina Svitolina comes into this contest in great form having beaten Simona Halep in straight sets, extending her winning run to nine games – which includes her victory at the Chicago Open. Leylah Annie Fernandez, on the other hand, is enjoying a fairytale in New York after knocking out two former world number ones in Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber in successive matches.

The Canadian powerhouse hit 45 winners in her comeback victory against Kerber, but allowed the German plenty of opportunities as she made 34 unforced errors. Svitolina has been dominant so far, but she also has a very good defense and can pick opponents apart in longer rallies. Even though Fernandez has shown a lot of fight in the previous two rounds, The Ukrainian will have too much and should advance in three sets.

Wednesday 00:00 Barbora Krejcikova v Aryna Sabalenka: Sabalenka To Win 2-0 In Sets

This pair have only met once on tour, with Aryna Sabalenka winning that affair two sets to one. These players are appearing in the US Open quarter finals for the first time in their career, with it being the first time Barbora Krejcikova has even qualified for the main draw. Both women have looked unplayable at times on their way to the last eight too.

Sabalenka dropped a set in her opening match against Nina Stojanovic, but hasn’t had a hiccup since and is starting to look like quite the force off the back of her semi-final appearance at Wimbledon. Krejcikova came through her last 16 tie with Spaniard Garbiñe Muguruza in straight sets (6-3, 7-6), but it wasn’t without some difficulty.

Outlasting a medical time out at the end of the first set and she seemed to have difficulty in breathing at the end of the match, needing assistance to go off the court. With Sabalenka’s performances on the WTA Tour and Krejcikova’s medical issues in the previous round, Sabalenka in straight sets seems to be the best bet here.

Wednesday 02:00 Felix Auger-Aliassime v Carlos Alcaraz: Auger-Aliassime To Win The Match and Both Players Win A Set

This is very much a battle of two young stars that could dominate the world of tennis for years to come. 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz is fresh off a breakthrough win against current world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the previous round. He a hard fought victory against German Peter Gojowcyzk in the round before that, where he appeared to be down and out but hung in there for a three sets to two victory.

Felix Auger-Aliassime overcame American native Frances Tiafoe in the last round, coming from a set down to take it three sets to one. This is now back-to-back Grand Slam quarter finals for Auger-Aliassime after an impressive showing at Wimbledon earlier in the summer. The duo have no previous head-to-head contests. But, based off the fact that both players have won three out of their four contests so far with the other player winning a set, I reckon that should be the bet in this match too. Take Felix to win the match though.

* All match times are approximate and some will depend on the finish of games being played before them. All of the above games take place on Tuesday in New York, times displayed are expected start times in the UK and Ireland.
