A year later than planned, thanks to that pesky coronavirus, England is ready to stage a groundbreaking Rugby League World Cup.

Australia are defending champions after beating the English in the 2017 final on their own patch so the Wall of White will be hoping to turn the tables in a month’s time.

Ireland, Scotland and Wales are also among the 16 countries taking part in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, which is scheduled to run from Saturday, October 15 to Saturday, November 19 2022 and every match will be shown on the BBC.

For the first time ever, the men’s Rugby League World Cup will be run at the same time as the women’s and wheelchair tournaments, with equal money being paid to all participants.

Rugby League World Cup teams

The 16 teams are divided into the following four groups. The top two teams in each group will progress to the Rugby League World Cup quarter-finals and automatically qualify for the next tournament in 2025.
