When is the US Presidential Election? 2024 date and candidates

Round two of Biden v Trump is off...

White House

The golden rule of Hollywood films is that sequels are rarely better than the originals – so it’s probably a good thing that Joe Biden has opted against a rematch with Donald Trump in the next US Presidential Election.

Biden, the 46th and current President of the United States of America, was set to contest the vote, but has pulled out of the race in favour of a younger model after a host of (quite funny) gaffes in recent weeks including introducing Ukraine leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy as President Putin at a press conference.

Trump, who was beaten by Biden in the last US Presidential Election in 2020, is back and bidding to return to Washington after four chaotic and controversial years as the 45th President. He recently dodged death after an assassination attempt as he emerged with a grazed ear.

Democrat candidate for the US Presidential Election

The Democrats faced an unprecedented situation of being without a candidate a little more than three months out from the election after Joe Biden opted to stand aside but Vice President Kamala Harris has stepped up to the plate after a string of significant endorsements.

Republican candidate for the US Presidential Election

Donald Trump secured the Republican Party nomination despite principal rival Nikki Haley winning a couple of primaries along the way. He was rubber-stamped by the GOP as their candidate at their National Convention just days after being shot in the ear.
