9:31pm – Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Joe Mixon Anytime Touchdown

The AFC North is one of the best divisions in the NFL this season, none of the teams have a losing record but the Pittsburgh Steelers are in freefall. An injury to Kenny Pickett has left them in real trouble and they’ve lost three games in a row. Saturday night sees them facing off against one of the most in-form running backs around, who is really benefiting from becoming the centrepiece of the offence.

Another quarterback injury, this time to Joe Burrow, has left Joe Mixon as the main man for Cincinnati. In the four games since Burrow’s injury Mixon has scored four touchdowns as the Bengals have rallied around backup QB Jake Browning. Facing a struggling side I’m backing Mixon to keep his scoring streak going.

    Tee Higgins Over 4.5 Receptions

Browning has been a bit of a surprise package as a replacement for Burrow. He has led the team to overtime wins over Jacksonville Jaguars and, last week, the Minnesota Vikings and a dominant win over the Indianapolis Colts. However, his ability to keep the offence moving has seen him slightly reliant on wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who has 22 catches in the four games Browning has started.

Chase picked up an injury last week and Browning turned to his second option, Tee Higgins. The 24-year-old will be Browning’s main target on Saturday night and with Chase on the sidelines I think his receptions line is too low. Look for Higgins to catch five or more passes in a Bengals win.

1:01am – Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Chargers

    James Cook Anytime Touchdown

The Buffalo Bills have been in incredible form in the last few weeks, picking up signature wins over the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys. A big part of that success has been the emergence of James Cook as an elite-level, every-down running back.

Cook has picked up over 100 total yards in each of his last five games and scored four touchdowns in that same time. Facing a Los Angeles Chargers side who have given up nine rushing scores in the last six weeks I’m backing Cook to add to his total for the year.

Stefon Diggs Over 67.5 Receiving Yards

One of the best and most consistent quarterback/wide receiver partnerships over the last two years has been Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. Since Diggs’ arrival in Buffalo in 2020 the receiver accounts for just under 1/3 of Josh Allen’s total passing yards (5,230/16,775) and total touchdowns (37/134) and they will undoubtedly be at it again in LA.

Quarterbacks across the league have torched the Chargers this season. Their, supposedly, defensive-minded head coach Brandon Staley was fired last week after overseeing a defence who are worst in the league in passing yards allowed and giving up an average of 284 yards a game. If Allen gets anywhere close to that mark it will involve a heavy dose of Stefon Diggs, who should cover 67.5 receiving yards pretty handily.

        Buffalo Defence Anytime Touchdown

Buffalo have the benefit of being the only team playing on Saturday night who are not playing a backup quarterback.

The Chargers lost star signal-caller Justin Herbert at the beginning of the month and turned to Easton Stick who, to put it lightly, has struggled since taking the starting job. The Chargers offence has turned the ball over seven times in their last two games including a horrendous five times in their 63-21 loss to the Raiders last week.

The Bills defence is top five in the league for both interceptions (13) and fumbles recovered (10) so I’m backing Sean McDermott’s side to repeat what Las Vegas managed last week and score a defensive touchdown.
