Rashee Rice Anytime Touchdown

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a controversial home loss to the Buffalo Bills last weekend with quarterback Patrick Mahomes seen doing his best Didier Drogba impression and screaming at the referees after what he thought was a missed penalty against the Bills defence.

Frustration has been building for a while with Mahomes, who leads an offence that is nowhere near as explosive as it once was, but in the form of Rashee Rice they may have one bright spark to focus on.

Rice has 34 more catches, 313 more yards and four more touchdowns than any other Chiefs wide receiver and while star tight end Travis Kelce is still the main focus of Mahomes’ passing it is Rice who provides the support.

With running back Isiah Pacheco battling an injury I would expect the Chiefs to pass the ball with increased regularity on Sunday and that means Rice is well worth a look in the touchdown scorer market.

Kansas City Chiefs -8.5 Points

While the Chiefs offence has been questioned this season those concerns are nothing compared to the New England Patriots. Bill Belichick’s side got a 21-18 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week but in the three games before that they scored 6, 7 and 0 points.

New England have struggled to settle on a quarterback and have scored the fewest points in the league by some distance and I don’t see them arresting that slide on Sunday.

The Chiefs defence are one of the better in the league and whether it is Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe who get the start at quarterback for New England I can’t see much opportunity of this game to be close. Kansas City should cover their 8.5 point handicap easily enough.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins

Over 36.5 Points

Mike McDaniel and his Miami Dolphins suffered a surprise loss to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night and will look to bounce back against a side they have owned in recent seasons. The New York Jets have beaten the Dolphins just once in their last seven encounters but the games are usually entertaining.

An 11-6 Miami win last season is the only game in the last three years that hasn’t seen over 40 points, including earlier this season when the Dolphins ran out 34-13 winners on Black Friday. That game was laughably mismatched, with the Jets starting Tim Boyle at quarterback and struggling to move the ball at all.

Zach Wilson returned to the starting lineup last week in a surprise win over the Houston Texans and will have a chance to make some plays again on Sunday. While Miami should win, and win well, I’d be surprised if we don’t see another 40+ point game.

New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints

New York Giants +5.5 Points

For the New York Giants 2023 has been coming of a lost season. They play in the NFC East, home to two Super Bowl favourites (Eagles & Cowboys) and started the year historically badly; but the discovery of Tommy DeVito has at least made this season fun for the fans.

DeVito is from New Jersey and grew up a Giants fan – his run at starting quarterback is becoming the stuff of legend.

With wins over the Commanders and Patriots the 25-year-old had already won the hearts of those in the stands but on Monday night he lead the Giants to their third straight win over the playoff chasing Green Bay Packers.

On Sunday he’ll likely rely on Saquon Barkley to lead the offence but look for the Giants to cover their handicap against a beleaguered Saints team.

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers

Atlanta Falcons Moneyline

In any other season the Atlanta Falcons would be licking their wounds and just trying to get to the end of the year while developing a couple of their younger players.

Thanks to the fact they play in the terrible NFC South the Falcons find themselves in a playoff race. Tampa Bay, New Orleans and Atlanta are all 6-7 and well in with a chance of hosting a game in January.

Wide receiver Drake London showed off his skillset last week with a 10 catch 172-yard performance and will look to have more of the same on Sunday.

Quarterback Desmond Ridder is, at best, inconsistent so while London may not have the same numbers I’m backing the Falcons to win and relegate the Panthers to an NFL worst 1-13 record.
