Monday Night Football this week brings us a crucial AFC matchup where the Cincinnati Bengals will try to end a three-game losing streak when they play the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bengals (5-6) are attempting to secure their third straight postseason appearance while the Jaguars (8-3) are hoping to capture back-to-back division titles.

The Jags have won seven of their last eight games and are one of the form teams in the league. This is the first meeting of these two sides since September 2021 and the result Monday will go a long way to determining if they’ll be playing football in late January.

Jacksonville Jaguars -6.5

This game has a totally different outlook than what it would’ve had three to four weeks ago. That is because of the season-ending wrist injury sustained by Bengals quarter back Joe Burrow.

With Jake Browning under center, he doesn’t instill a lot of confidence the way Burrow would to his teammates. With one major problem at QB, their defence wouldn’t be a sure thing either. They gave up over 400 combined yards to the lowly Steelers offence last week.

The Jags will have to be licking their lips coming into this one. Having won seven of their last eight they sit on top of their division and a win on Monday will give them a two-game gap at the top of the AFC South.

I like the Jags to win tonight but for safety, I’ll take them by a touchdown. Jags -6.5.

(-6.5)

Under 39.5 Points

This has been the bet all year with Primetime Unders hitting at nearly 75%. The reasoning for it on Monday should be down to the Bengals and their potential game plan.

They know with Burrow out they won’t be explosive so they’ll try and milk the clock as much as possible. That’ll mean a lot of runs, screens, and short passes. I can’t see them scoring much either with Browning throwing the ball.

(39.5)

Evan Engram Over 44.5 Receiving Yards

For a player who has caught at least four passes in each game this season, this is a very low amount. Targeting for Evan Engram has been incredibly reliable. I can see him going for a big day against a Bengals defence that has severe problems stopping tight ends.

The Bengals are giving up the second-most receiving yards in the league to the position, with 70 yards per game. Engram gets 47 receiving yards per contest on average.

So with the Bengals struggling in this area and this line being lower than his season average it looks like the play on Monday night.

(44.5)

Travis Etienne Any Time Touchdown Scorer

Travis Etienne has already racked up eight touchdowns this season for the Jags in what has been a breakout year for the former Clemson star. He has a brilliant relationship with his Alumni Trevor Lawrence and T-Law looks to find his number one when possible.

His ability to run and catch keeps him in the game for most third-down situations and they tend to go to Etienne when in big situations. I’d expect him to see the endzone once more.

Calvin Ridley Over 56.5 Receiving Yards

Calvin Ridley has seen a huge return to form lately, a lot being down to the return to play of the other Jag’s weapons. Ridley is now averaging 89 yards per game when Zay Jones is active.

The Bengals struggle to stop the pass and that’s been the case all year. The former first-round pick will see a lot of action this Monday and I’d expect him to cover his line.
