The Dolphins have shown themselves to be one of the league’s bullies this season. They’ve wracked up massive yardage and points totals against some of the weakest teams around, but have not got that signature win over a good team yet.
The Jets are certainly among the bottom dwellers without Aaron Rodgers at QB, though their defence has made it difficult for opponents in games this season for the most part.
Miami didn’t quite blow the Raiders away as one might’ve expected last Sunday, which gives pause for thought on the -9.5 handicap, but the Jets look so toothless on offence, if Miami makes it over 20 points they could cover here.
Jets Total Points: Under 15.5
The Jets have rolled with the putrid play of all-time draft bust Zach Wilson since Rodgers went down, but his performance against the Bills last week finally saw the Jets acknowledge the disaster he has been and he’s been demoted to third-choice signal-caller for this game.
Unfortunately that means one of the pals Rodgers “suggested” they sign in the offseason, Tim Boyle, takes a break from holding a clipboard and has to actually start a game.

Everything we’ve seen so far suggests the difference between Boyle and Wilson is minimal. Miami’s defence is also improving, especially now it has Jalen Ramsey making plays, and with no passing game to speak of, the Dolphins can shut down anything Breece Hall attempts on the ground.
We have to take the Jets team points Under 15.5 until we see some signs of life.
First Touchdown Scorer: Raheem Mostert
He’s been on the injury report again but, like last week, it seems more about managing his usage than anything. He had a season-high 22 rushes against Vegas and with De’Von Achane injured again, he could be in line for similar usage this week.
He already has 13 touchdowns on the season too, and while Miami’s offence has Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill outside, they’re up against one of the better cornerback tandems in Sauce Gardener and DJ Reed.
If you wanted to play it safe you could go with him Anytime at odds of 9/1 or so for this Bet Builder, but the Jets secondary should mean that Mostert has a better shot than usual of opening the scoring here.
Raheem Mostert Over 60.5 Rushing Yards
Despite its reputation, the Jets D has also been pretty terrible against the run in general this season. The Bills, Raiders and Giants all feasted in recent weeks against them on the ground.
Mostert should do the same.
Breece Hall Over 3.5 Receptions
The Jets running back figures to feature with the new starting QB likely looking to dump off passes early and often. Hall started the season slowly coming off last season’s injury but has been one encouraging piece on offence for the AFC East strugglers.
