The NFL is a seventeen-game season.

And within the context of the Premier League, that seems quite tame. Except for the fact that these guys actively use their bodies to stop others’ momentum at alarming speeds and cost.

Things change, and quickly.

Both Indianapolis and Denver would have been popular outside picks for the AFC this year, but after the injuries have racked up and the big-name acquisition at quarterback haven’t panned either for either, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to take these seriously.

The Colts looked to be a quarterback away in the offseason so they brought in Matt Ryan. The Broncos? Same story – opted for Russell Wilson.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Both have looked bottom run signal-callers so far; muddling their offensive blueprints for both teams and bringing the long-term success of the franchises into question.

Now, this might well sound like a misery – and I’m sure it even has you wondering why you’d bother watching it.

But remember two things – Hate watching is hilarious, and you can always make a few quid from other people’s misery.

Right, that’s enough from me. Over to you, Russ and Matty Ice – to show the world that no matter the cost of living, they’ll never be stung quite as badly as the teams who signed you.

Denver Broncos to Win

When you have Denver at home against a team who are struggling, you back Denver.

It’s the biggest home field advantage in the NFL bar none, and that’s why, in a game that seems like a scratch to you, favours the home team so vigorously.

And despite your brain wanting you to piece parity, Matt Ryan has never played at the level of peak Russell Wilson in his life.

If both quarterbacks have good games, combined with inefficient run games, Wilson will simply guide his team to more points.

Indianapolis really need to move away from their primary reads, as Pat Surtain will lock down Michael Pittman. This will cause Matt Ryan to panic and change plays at the line of scrimmage time and time again, ruining their tempo.

Over 42.5 Points

Russell Wilson obviously was an MVP calibre player for a while, despite never receiving a single MVP vote, as many allude to.

But that’s fallen off a cliff in the first four games of the season. Now, whether you want to call that ageing or a reveal of his true ability, that’s upto you. Sometimes running around and throwing the ball in the sky helps your imagine.

Not looking at anyone in particular, Kyler Murray.

Jonathan Taylor is banged up, despite the fact he says he’s playing. This will result in limited carries and increased workload on quarterbacks. It means there’ll generally be more time on the clock, and the ball moving faster per play.

Given that Indianapolis are hindered by Colts’ coordinator Gus Bradley’s Cover 3 shell – the same one that Wilson went up against in Seattle, the points will be aplenty.

And that goes for Denver, too. Gordon is injured, and Williams is out for the year.

Both will pass far more than they’d like to, so the points total is low.

Jerry Jeudy – Over 50.5 Receiving Yards

Cover 3 means that the deep part of the field is off limits, so you check down to slot receivers. The beneficiary here is Jerry Jeudy.

He has looked fantastic since returning from a heavy injury last year, and Indianapolis will end up giving him free targets underneath. These might not even be important yards, but they’ll be easy for Wilson to check down to.

Alec Pierce – Over 34.5 Receiving Yards

Alec Pierce is a freaky physical specimen, and he’s a total mismatch for anyone in this league. And given Pat Surtain will be on the other side guarding Pittman, it should be the go-to matchup for Ryan over and over again.

He gets a lot of looks in the redzone, but this’ll be his breakout game for between the hashes.
