NFL tips: Back the Bills, Packers and Jets in our 7/1 enhanced trader Treble

NFL trader Ian Dent takes a look at the Week 8 match-ups

We’ve almost reached the halfway stage of the regular season and after a dramatic week 7, the Pittsburgh Steelers stand alone as the only unbeaten team in pro football. Pittsburgh are now a 17/2 shot to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy, with the Kansas City Chiefs still favoured to emerge from the AFC.

In the NFC, Seattle’s dramatic OT loss to the Cardinals has seen them replaced at the top of the NFC betting by the rampant Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady. Week 8 promises more twists and turns, so our NFL trader Ian Dent has given us his best bets for the weekend

Sunday Treble: Bills (-4.5), Packers (-6.5) and Jets (+19.5)

“The first leg is the Buffalo Bills. They are currently -4.5 on the handicap and they should have too much for the Patriots at home, who seem to be getting worse and worse each week. They started the season looking quite positive but Cam Newton is really struggling. He’s not even running at the moment, his passing is all over the place and his receivers can’t seem to get open for him. We haven’t seen Julian Edelman in several weeks and in an important divisional match up, I think the Bills will take this.

“For the second leg I think the Packers will have too much for the Vikings in the big NFC north clash. Their offence was back in fine form after a bit of a dip against the Buccaneers. Davante Adams looked uncoverable last week against the Texans, who to be fair have a weak secondary but so do the Vikings. The Vikings look to have really packed it in this season, they don’t match up well against this Packers offence and I think the Packers should beat them fairly handily here.

“The final leg is a bit of a bold one, as the Jets really are a mess looking to trade away all their players and the Chiefs are obviously a far superior team but the Jets getting 19.5 points might be a bit too much. You can maybe see the Chiefs easing up after they get well ahead and realistically with a handicap like this, one Jets touchdown could mean you can beat the line.”

Same Game Multi: 49ers @ Seahawks – Seahawks (-3.5), alternate total points over 60.5 & Russell Wilson passing yards over

“There always seems to be shootouts involving Seattle as their offence is very strong, but their defence is very weak. The 49ers don’t generally get involved in these types of games, but I can see this one really developing into a high-scoring affair which should smash through the alternate total of over 60.5 points, which itself is a 2/1 shot. Russell Wilson needs to keep his MVP challenge going and I think his total passing yards will be over in a game Seattle should win.”

Monday Night Football: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New York Giants – Bucs (-10.5), Mike Evans anytime and 1st TD scorer

“The Buccaneers are looking like a very complete team and are one of the Super Bowl favourites right now so I’m going to go for them on the handicap. They are strong in every area and they are more than capable of covering a 10.5 line against a Giants team that look to be in a bit of a mess – Daniel Jones’ rushing is not going to be enough to bail them out here.

“The Bucs offence looked a bit rocky in the first couple of weeks but Tom Brady is starting to click now and he has got several receiving options. Mike Evans is the man to back in the TD markets with Chris Godwin injured and new signing Antonio Brown unavailable. He had a very quiet game in Week 7 but he’s always a touchdown threat and this could be a good spot for him here.”
