As the 2020 US Presidential election draws ever closer, we can reveal that this year’s vote is bigger than ever when it comes to the betting. Here at Paddy Power we have taken more than DOUBLE the amount of money gambled on the 2020 election than Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton four years ago.
And, with six days still to go, we predict that come election day, there’ll be eight figures traded on the historical vote. Joe Biden is the odds-on favourite to win at a price which represents a 71% chance, while Donald Trump is priced at around a 34% chance.
Despite the odds, Trump still received more wagers on him to win over the last week, notching up 80% of all best placed on the election, compared to 20% on Biden.

While Biden ups the ante on trying to win swing state Texas, Paddy Power can reveal the chances of the Democrats succeeding there have increased, moving from 5/2 to 11/5 in the last 24 hours.
While Biden is the strong favourite to win, were still seeing more individual bets on Trump to be re-elected – though the odds falling on a Democrat win in Texas could change that.
We’re just days away from the US election now and when it comes to the betting, it’s already the biggest election we’ve ever seen, far surpassing even 2016.
