The staying superstar bids to match Yeats’ record by winning the Ascot Gold Cup for a fourth time, although this will be his final crack at equalling the record as he’s set to retire to stud at the end of the season.

Trueshan was kept in by trainer Alan King at final declarations, although Stradivarius’ big rival is unlikely to run unless the ground becomes softer which is unlikely as the weather forecast indicates that there will be no rainfall before the race. The Aidan O’Brien trained Kyprios could prove to be the greatest danger to Stradivarius after a monster victory in the Group 3 Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes at Leopardstown last month. The cracking 10-runner field also includes last year’s second Princess Zoe and 2021 Derby and St Leger runner-up Mojo Star.
Emily Upjohn misses the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at 3.40pm so the likes of Sea Silk Road, Magical Lagoon and Life Of Dreams head Paddy Power’s betting market. The card kicks off with the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes while the Queen will be hoping Reach For The Moon can provide her with a Platinum Jubilee winner in the Hampton Court Stakes at 5.35pm.
