Constitution Hill delivered one of the most impressive performances at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival to win the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
The opening race of the four-day fiesta looked like being one of the most competitive renewals before the runners went to post but Nicky Henderson’s charge obliterated the rest of the field to score by 22l from stablemate Jonbon.

A clash with Honeysuckle at the Punchestown Festival has been mooted by connections while the rising star heads Paddy Power’s antepost betting market for the 2023 Champion Hurdle.
Speaking on the Cheltenham Festival 2022 Review of our From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, tipster Rory Delargy admitted it’s ‘frightening’ to think what Constitution Hill could achieve next season.
Rory Delargy:
“The winner is some kind of freak because he snapped back on the bridle. It was clear he was going to win and to win by 22l in a race like that from a horse of the quality of Jonbon is absolutely stunning.
“It was an incredible performance, not just for a novice but for a horse of his age with no bumper background, no Flat background and on just his third start and first ever start on good ground, which now seems to suit him even better than a soft surface.
“He’s something exceptional and if he did take on Honeysuckle at Punchestown it would be a tough one to call.
“He ran pretty close to his limit but he did it in such a taking way. He doesn’t pull at all and does everything his jockey asks him to do. He’s a great horse to ride as whatever you want is what he will do. There are very few horses at the top end of the spectrum that are as easy as that. What he could do next season is frightening.”
