Rory Delargy:
“I’m still not convinced that a really testing three miles would suit Klassical Dream as well as three miles as a speed test. I’d be dubious about whether he wants to be pressing on with Flooring Porter.
“It’s difficult to tell antepost what the pace is going to be like. You need to have the right kind of stayer that can go the pace because they’re more likely to make mistakes if they’re taken off their feet. If they’re just short of a turn of foot and need a strong pace to pull them through then Sporting John’s probably in that category. He’s got the class to win over shorter but in a lot of the races he’s been caught out for tactical pace when it has quickened at half way so a solid gallop from start to finish would make him interesting.
“Flooring Porter showed last year he can go at a fair old lick and see it out. Whether he copes with a maximum crowd at Cheltenham remains to be seen but he’s shown that he can show his quirks and still run to the very best of his form. He’s still the one to beat.

“I get the impression we’re unlikely to be racing on deep ground in March and that’d maximise his chance. It’d be a brave man to try and take him on from the start of the race. Anyone who tries to go with him will be cutting their own throat. It wasn’t a great race behind him last year but it was a remarkable performance from start to finish and a repeat of it will win this again.
“Goshen is Timeform’s highest rated hurdler in the UK which is a damning indictment of hurdlers in the UK.”
