13:10 Getalead (each-way)

Two come in here unbeaten in Double Powerful and Plaisir Des Flos, but I’ll look elsewhere to GETALEAD. He’s chasing the hat-trick and carries a 7lb penalty for his last win at Warwick, but the form of his previous win at Windsor is working out well, with the third-placed Tour Ovalie winning subsequently.

He’ll handle the better ground and with Lewis Saunders taking off 5 lbs, that will negate the penalty somewhat. He looks a solid each-way play at the prices in the opener.

14/1
Getalead Win or Each Way

13:45 Springwell Bay

Only four runners, but it’s hard to call. Buddy One didn’t look great last time when chasing Heart Wood & Corbetts Cross home at Wexford and it’s hard to know what the plan is with him. Hyland won very well at this track last month, but Springwell Bay was a very good hurdler who always seems to run well at this venue. He’s won over 3m when hurdling and his win last time over 2m 4f in a Listed Chase showed promise.

Insurrection and Boom Bawn chased him home then and they battled out the finish at Wincanton last time, with Boom Bawn coming out on top. SPRINGWELL BAY looks the one to beat and is my best bet today.

13/8
Springwell Bay Win or Each Way

14:20 Jonbon

The Grade 2 Shloer Chase sees just four runners declared and it’s hard to see JONBON beaten. He’s never been out of the first two and is odds-on for a reason. He’ll be hard to beat on all known form, but I won’t be playing or laying at the price.

4/11
Jonbon Win or Each Way

14:55 Fameaftertheglory (each way)/Sweet David (each way)

The Cross Country is a handicap and the first two in the market are Conflated and Mister Coffey – have no experience of these fences. If we get the declared eight runners to post I’d sooner an each-way play on FAMEAFTERTHEGLORY or SWEET DAVID. It’s a trappy contest, though.

5/1
Fameaftertheglory Win or Each Way
7/1
Sweet David Win or Each Way

15:30 Potters Charm

The Grade 2 Albert Bartlett trial over 2m 5f sees six declared and it looks a match as Valgrand and Potters Charm may have it between them. The Skeltons’ Valgrand got a fair hike in the ratings after a flashy win last time and has to give 2lbs to Potters Charm now, despite being rated 1lb higher than him.

Valgrand has to justify that hype now though and there’s a chance he may be overrated. The Nigel Twiston-Davies’ team seem sweet on POTTERS CHARM. He can reinforce the impression he’s given so far of a horse going places.

1/1
Potters Charm Win or Each Way
