Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
13:50 Ascot – Shaladar (The Guardian)
The superb Crystal Casque was too good for Double Time and SHALADAR in this race last year, but the last-named did well in the circumstances, and he should be good for a big run back on this track. In-form Law Supreme (second choice) and impressive Ffos Las winner Dakota Power are others with good claims, while Little Empire, Power Of Gold, and Alazwar are all entitled to be involved.
14:00 Haydock – Bayraat (The Times)
Bottom weight BAYRAAT runs off the same mark as when a close third of 18 at York last time and is the selection ahead of the in-form C&D winner Secret Mistral. Arecibo is on a dangerous mark, while Our Absent Friends arrives in good form, and Thunder Star is capable of playing a leading role if leaving a lacklustre run behind. Skallywag Bay bolted up at Brighton on Monday, but this is more competitive.
15:55 Bangor – Mr Mackay (Daily Express)
Restandbethankful was initially raised only 3lb for beating a next-time-out winner at Cartmel a fortnight ago and is back in action before an additional 4lb increase takes effect. He is not opposed lightly but MR MACKAY was very competitive in some good-quality hurdle races last season and may exploit a favourable mark on today’s chasing debut. Dream Jet and Neigh Botha also make appeal.
19:30 Kempton – Prevail (Daily Mail)
First Kiss and She’s A Warrior have both shown promise at this course but the suggestion is PREVAIL, who shaped well on turf on debut and her trainer’s newcomers usually improve for a run.
