17:10 Newbury – Candy

The form of CANDY‘s C&D second last month looks solid so he’s taken to go one better in a tight-looking race. Equalised is a potentially dangerous opponent on nursery debut back from a break, particularly if the betting vibes are strong.

18:25 Wolverhampton – My Genghis

This looks to revolve around Bernard Spierpoint who bids for a rapid four-timer. He is only 2lb wrong under his double-penalty so the main worry is whether four runs in the space of 16 days finds him out. It may be worth taking him on with MY GENGHIS, who finished 5l behind him here last month but is now 14lb better off. Tony Carroll’s gelding was sent off 6-4 favourite for that race, which suggests that much better was expected. Fircombe Hall and Mr Funky Monkey are others who have something to recommend them.

18:40 Newbury – Wonder Smile

A final chance is given to WONDER SMILE, who might have just been stretched by 1m on his last two starts and his 7f 3yo handicap form at the start of the summer reads well in the context of this race. State Flag went up only 1lb for her latest C&D success and is next on the list ahead of Where’s Freddy, who won comfortably at Newmarket but has been rather hit or miss in his career so far.

19:10 Newbury – Bright

Arnaz has been knocking on the door and should go well, but perhaps Supreme King, who hasn’t had the best of luck for different reasons lately, can be the main danger to BRIGHT. The latter has been in cracking form recently, and he hasn’t been treated too harshly for his wins. Justcallmepete has yet to win on turf, but his useful C&D run in a higher grade during April makes him worth a look off of 8lb lower. Regal Envoy, Capote’s Dream and Haziym are others to consider.

20:00 Wolverhampton – Advert Rules

C&D winner Dibble Dabble has been running consistently well on turf lately and should go well back here, while the equally consistent Emerald City is gradually getting there. However, the vote goes to ADVERT RULES, who is off the same mark as when chasing home an in-form rival over C&D 16 days ago. Handicap newcomer Edwardtheninth is also worth keeping an eye on.

21:00 Wolverhampton – Dream Selection

A tricky finale. Etretat and Daymer Bay set the standard on their first and second in a maiden handicap over C&D in July. Still, it may be worth taking a chance with DREAM SELECTION, who has dropped 5lb lower than when successful over a furlong further here in February. Swift Salian and Wait And Hope are also interesting following their last winning marks.
