Ann Terry’s yearling price tag almost doubled when sold at the breeze-ups earlier this year and she offered encouragement on debut at Ayr ten days ago. Ann Terry had to settle for third behind a pair with the benefit of experience but the penny seemed to be gradually dropping and it was promising how she stayed on inside the final furlong. She is likely to take a step forward with that experience to call on and can get off the mark at the second attempt.
14:22 Genesius
Genesius proved a model of consistency last season and has also run to a similar level to finish placed on all three starts this term. Genesius was successful over this course and distance off a 1 lb lower mark last season and that victory was achieved with cut in the ground, so he looks likely to launch another bold bid for the in-form Sir Mark Prescott stable.
14:52 Ingleby Archie
Ingleby Archie had been disappointing on his first few starts this season but he returned to form on the back of a nine-week break at Redcar last month, showing a better attitude than the runner-up to get off the mark. Ingleby Archie kept on well to score by three-quarters of a length and a 3 lb rise in the weights shouldn’t prevent him from launching another bold bid.
15:22 Germanic
This is a very strong novice for the track but Germanic gets the vote following his wide-margin win at Newcastle last month. Germanic was only in mid-division on debut at Newbury, finishing six places behind Ten Pounds who reopposes here, but he proved a different proposition with that outing under his belt and justified strong support in style at Newcastle. There may not have been much depth to that contest but he stormed 11 lengths clear in the style of a smart prospect and still has more to offer.
15:52 On A Session
On A Session is on a losing run of 16 that stretches back to April of last year but he shaped well at Chester on his penultimate start, missing out by just a head after being forced notably wide around the home turn. He showed enough to suggest that he remains in form when sixth in the competitive Carlisle Bell at a track which would have provided a stiffer test than ideal, so he remains one to be positive about from his reduced mark.
16:22 Dazy Mazy
Dazy Mazy has done well on the turf this season, winning two of her four starts, including at Doncaster last month when she showed a good attitude to prevail by a head. That victory was achieved on quick ground but she had been a convincing winner on soft going earlier in the campaign at Doncaster so will have no issue with the return to more testing conditions. She’s only gone up 2 lb for her latest win so looks capable of launching another bold bid.
16:55 Yazaman
A change of headgear has made a big difference for Yazaman who made it three from three since the blinkers were refitted when successful at Wetherby last month. He has a 5 lb higher mark to deal with here but he’s clearly thriving at present and was ultimately well on top when completing the hat-trick at Wetherby, so he looks up to extending his winning sequence.
