14:25 – French Mistress
A modest maiden in which those with some of the best flashes of form are now essentially regressive or disappointing. FRENCH MISTRESS ran well in a Nottingham novice that has some substance to it. Poncho is second choice as he moved well for a long way over further at Goodwood. Fox Vision has now had plenty of chances but needs respecting in this modest a race.
14:55 – Laurentia
All of these come with risks. LAURENTIA is at least a recent winner and didn’t appear to stay 1m4f here last time after moving well. Run Joy Run is in better form than most and has Oisin Murphy aboard, while Forever Proud also makes the shortlist.
15:25 – Mister Mojito
Ten Commitments is on the up and is unexposed at 7f so he needs consideration, while Never Dream (second choice), Royal Tapestry and All Agleam also have something to recommend them. MISTER MOJITO came up short in a Class 4 at Newmarket last month, but his earlier Yarmouth win marked him down as one to keep on the right side of.
15:55 – Sugarloaf Lenny
There are plenty of quibbles about these runners regarding the trip or current form and SUGARLOAF LENNY is just a hopeful choice to make a success of the step up in trip. Treasure Storm was only just behind the selection at Wolverhampton last time out but she hasn’t been crying out for 1m2f, unlike Muy Barato who came home strongly from well back when last seen over 1m here in January.
16:25 – Landlordtothestars (NAP)
Mykonos St John still has handicapping scope despite a 3lb rise for his recent course win, but he wouldn’t be an obvious candidate to follow up. Dutch Kingdom and Ring Of Light (second choice) are respected now dropping in grade but LANDLORDTOTHESTARS (nap) bumped into a well-treated rival over C&D last month and can gain compensation.
16:55 – Valkyrian
The addition of a tongue-tie could spark a revival from Bernadine, while Swiss Pride will be happier back on AW and the unexposed Delta Legend (second choice) bids to maintain a flawless C&D record. This should be run at a good pace with a couple of front-runners in the field and VALKYRIAN may be the answer. She ran well under prominent tactics at Chelmsford on Sunday but creeping into it from the back of the pack is more her scene and this could set up favourably.
17:30 – Havechatma
Plenty of possibles in an open race but HAVECHATMA might prove the answer. She improved for the addition of blinkers last winter and her reappearance at Bath last month was promising. She’s had plenty of racing but remains unexposed as a sprinter in headgear. Coast, Due Date and Gherkin can all feature but Sir Rodneyredblood may prove the main threat to the selection.
18:00 – Zizania Du Mazet
A tricky contest with several trying this trip for the first time. Coljani has been too keen and having learnt to settle, could now be at a disadvantage, but his sire has got speedy types on this surface. Pharitz Alanood showed up well before fading last time against most of these and is worth another try at this distance. Delicatesse hasn’t shown much over further but is young enough to find some form and with her yard amateur’s claim, cannot be overlooked with their stable in form. However, a chance is taken on stablemate ZIZANIA DU MAZET on her handicap debut. She may be small, but having been prepped for the breeze ups she was professional enough on her first outing and her jockey’s claim is a definite plus.
