Plenty to consider. The vote goes to the well-handicapped ROMANOR who has conditions to suit and should improve for his recent reappearance run at Huntingdon. Mystic Man, who is four out of five over fences, but is dropping back in trip, and last month’s Sedgefield winner Tropical Talent are two others with claims.
14:45 – Tom Creen
This looks tricky as cases can be made for all seven. TOM CREEN has done all his winning over fences at Sedgefield but he has form here and Tom Broughton’s claim will come in handy. No Regrets edges Taste The Fear for second preference.
15:15 – Charisma Cat
Rockola Vogue appeals most of those with experience but the the newcomers are interesting, notably the well-bred CHARISMA CAT and Irish challenger Silver Pageant, whose stable is 2-4 this season in British bumpers.
15:45 – Letterston Lily
It was a tough starter for LETTERSTON LILY at the Grand National meeting and she showed enough at Haydock to get the vote. Either Way may show more than on her rules debut as her point second reads well. Screened is a respected newcomer, while Fergal O’Brien’s two mares are no doubt capable of better.
16:20 – Backmersackme
It’s a mystery as to what happened at Tipperary but BACKMERSACKME had been looking a good prospect, having run quite well in a Grade 1 at Punchestown. Emmet Mullins doesn’t travel from Ireland for the fun of it and he’s the yard’s only runner on the card. Hell Hound, a Ludlow bumper winner and bred to progress, is the standout alternative.
16:50 – Fosters Fortune (NAP)
Mostly Sunny and the dangerously unexposed Glimpse Of Glory are notable handicap debutants who should be in the thick of it, while Chicago Gal may be buoyed by her first career win. Others to consider are Inigo, who remains an unknown quantity, and FOSTER’S FORTUNE (nap) who looked a different horse on good ground at Sedgefield.
17:20 – Lipa K
It was all very easy for LIPA K when making it 2-2 for this yard over fences at Bangor last week and this looks a good bit of placing back over hurdles off the same mark. Elham Valley is second choice after his near miss here last time over 2m, which seems inadequate these days. Copper Beach is next best.
17:50 – Fine By Me
An open race can go to FINE BY ME who shows his best form fresh, has conditions to suit and is on a lower mark than when runner-up on his seasonal debut last term. The unexposed Rocky Hill (second choice), recent C&D second Stripe Of Honour and last-time-out scorer Eric Carmen should also go well.
