13:10 Rock Hunter

A Royal Ascot trial that has had some bearing on events in June and the smart one here could be ROCK HUNTER, who made a winning debut at Chantilly four weeks ago in some style, showing signs of inexperience when alone in front late on but always doing enough to maintain superiority. That form sets the standard and he seems sure to improve further still. Sex On Fire is feared most ahead of Tanager.

13:40 Docklands

A tricky little puzzle to solve, but DOCKLANDS reserved his best form for this course and distance in a productive three-year-old campaign, winning a couple of handicaps in style, notably the Britannia at Royal Ascot, and he again impressed with how strongly he travelled when third on his final start in the Balmoral. A nice sort physically, he is just the sort to develop into an even better four-year-old, so is narrowly preferred to Maljoom, who endured a truncated campaign last season.

14:15 Sweet William

All five of these can be considered, but SWEET WILLIAM progressed into a smart stayer in his first full season last year, completing a quick-fire handicap in a useful handicap at Goodwood and he was only beaten half a length by Absurde in the Ebor at York. Sweet William has form with Coltrane and Trueshan, but he is less exposed than that pair, and he has the potential to kick on again this season in these races.

14:50 Adaay In Devon

ADAAY IN DEVON progressed well last season, and she has returned better than ever, proving herself on a good mark when making a winning handicap debut over five furlongs at Bath, and having a bit up her sleeve when following up in a listed event over the same course and distance. The return to six furlongs won’t be a problem and she looks the one to side with again in an opening-looking event. Purosangue and Starlust both arrive with likeable profiles and should give their running, too.

15:25 Woolhampton

WOOLHAMPTON has yet to finish out of the top 3 in a trio of starts over this course and distance, winning from a mark of 83 in July, and she shaped well enough without her usual blinkers on return at Wolverhampton 18 days ago. That run will almost certainly bring her forward and she looks very interesting now back at this course having dropped 1 lb below her last winning mark with the headgear back on. Glamorous Breeze isn’t taken lightly with a recent run behind her, while Burning Cash is also one to note at this level.

16:00 Juicy

JUICY made her belated debut a winning one at Southwell in December, drawing clear of her rivals in the style of a useful prospect and, though she failed to land cramped odds at Chelmsford next time, she caught the eye on her handicap debut at Newcastle in February. The manner in which she rattled home for fourth suggests she’s well treated and she looks very interesting on the back of that run making her turf debut. Kuwait City overcame the run of the race to score at Yarmouth last time and also merits respect, whilst Fair Wind appeals as the type who should do better still this season.

16:35 Diamond Run

A race chock-full of potential and it could be worth focusing on the debutantes, with Shamardal filly DIAMOND RAIN, who makes plenty of appeal on paper, getting the nod to come out on top for Godolphin before the benefit of market clues. John & Thady Gosden won this last year with a newcomer and their Shaha ticks plenty of boxes on paper, with Echo Lima and sole previous winner Aquacell completing the shortlist.

17:10 Roarin Success

Harry Charlton has his team in good order so preference is for ROARIN SUCCESS, who made a winning reappearance and handicap debut over this course and distance last season but didn’t really progress as anticipated afterwards. She returns on a potentially lenient mark, though, and fresh may be the best time to catch her. Two Tempting and Vultar may provide the chief threat.
