JUNGLE JIM shaped as if in need of the run when fifth in a maiden on his return at Southwell last month and he can be expected to step forward on that effort with a visor and a tongue tie fitted for the first time here. The handicapper has given Jungle Jim a chance as he’s able to run from a mark 8 lb lower than when contesting a handicap on his penultimate start and he looks well treated based on some of his maiden form.
14:20 Aces Wild
ACES WILD built on his first couple of starts for this yard when a good second in a five-furlong handicap at Wolverhampton last month, looking unlucky not to go close as he was badly hampered inside the final furlong, and he took another step forward to score over the same course and distance a week later. Aces Wild was a ready winner on that occasion and he was also well on top when following up over the same course and distance earlier this month. He needs to prove as effective on turf on his first start away from the all-weather but he’s clearly in top form and remains on a fair mark after going up 4 lb for his latest success.

GABRIAE just about sets the standard based on her runner-up effort at Southwell on her penultimate start and she wasn’t disgraced when third at Wolverhampton last time, despite still not looking like the finished article. Gabriae has harmed her chances by hanging to her left but it’s still relatively early days and perhaps the application of cheekpieces for the first time will help.
15:20 Squeezebox
SQUEEZEBOX fared well after joining Mick Appleby last season, winning on a couple of occasions and finishing runner-up on his last couple of starts. Squeezebox arguably produced his best effort yet when finding only a progressive three-year-old too strong when last seen at Catterick in September and he can launch a bold bid off the same mark on his return.
15:55 Ciara Pearl
CIARA PEARL took her record to three wins and two seconds from five starts when successful at Kempton a couple of weeks ago and she looks set to give another good account. Ciara Pearl made a winning return at Lingfield three weeks ago, beating the reopposing Hotaugustnight by three-quarters of a length, and she progressed again to follow up at Kempton last time, always looking in control after quickening to the lead over a furlong out. She looks well treated off this 2 lb higher mark.
16:30 Arctic Mountain
ARCTIC MOUNTAIN was placed on all three starts last season and found only a promising subsequent winner too strong when runner-up at Chelmsford on his final outing of the campaign. Arctic Mountain, who has had a wind operation since last seen, doesn’t have many miles on the clock and is an interesting handicap debutant here from a mark of 80 on his reappearance.
17:05 Thoughtful Gift
THOUGHTFUL GIFT is thriving and completed the hat-trick on her turf debut at Brighton last week, taking another step forward to score by a length. She’s up 4 lb for that success but she’s an improving mare who is clearly in excellent order and can launch another bold bid.
17:35 King Of Speed
KING OF SPEED won at Wolverhampton in February and has remained in form, finishing runner-up on all four subsequent starts. He carried on the good work he’d been doing on the all-weather when switched to turf over this course and distance last week, and he can give another good account off just a 1 lb higher mark.
