14:05 Wedgewood

WEDGEWOOD completed a hat-trick over Wolverhampton’s five furlongs around this time last year and is back in form again for Tony Carroll now. She could gain a fourth course-and-distance win if turned out again quickly after her length and a quarter defeat by Suanni at Lingfield on Monday. The winner reopposes here under a 5lb penalty which will make it difficult for him to come out on top again. Basholo, a dual course-and-distance winner herself already this year, is also respected off her revised mark.

14:40 Enchanting Empress

This is a two-year-old maiden where all six runners are newcomers. Plenty of the usual yards are represented in such a contest, with ENCHANTING EMPRESS, a speedily-bred daughter of first-season sire Sergei Prokofiev, looking a likely type on paper for Dominic Ffrench Davis in the Amo Racing colours. Archie Watson’s Amerjeet, a colt by Blue Point, and Kaadi, a filly from the Karl Burke yard which had a great team of juveniles last year, are others to note in a race where the betting will give clues.

15:10 Beveragino

The form of BEVERAGINO‘s third behind the useful Arcturian in another novice over seven furlongs last time is proving strong (second, fourth and seventh all won next time) and Michael Bell’s filly gets the vote dropping back to six furlongs here. Lingfield maiden winner No Half Measures is an improving filly and has leading claims too, while Mademoisellecancan likely has races in her judged on her second in a maiden over course and distance last month after an absence.

15:40 Con Te Partiro

CON TE PARTIRO has upped his game significantly since Richard Spencer switched him to handicaps and the hat-trick is firmly on the cards in a weak race. He won at Kempton in February before following up over this course and distance last time when showing a good attitude to beat next-time-out winner Eccentric by a short head. Aljadel, who was successful in a nursery at Chelmsford when last seen four months ago, looks the main danger and Sneaky Blinder can’t be ruled out upped in trip after looking to need a stiffer test at Southwell last time.

16:10 My Noble Lord

MY NOBLE LORD hinted at ability for Michael Bell last year and as a half-brother to a smart listed winner is bred to do better, so he’s a likely candidate upped significantly in trip to a mile and a half on the back of a gelding operation. Chartwell’s Lady shaped better than the result last time when dead-heating for fourth at Lingfield and is one to consider, while Something To Do is a player despite the quick turnaround after his creditable third behind Publicity at Lingfield on Monday.

16:45 Enzos Angel

ENZOS ANGEL has been in good order lately for Neil Mulholland, including when successful on his first start for the yard over a slightly longer trip at this track in February. He finds himself in an easier grade than last time, so he’s a solid option ahead of Shaka, who shaped well here when third on his penultimate outing and hasn’t been with Ivan Furtado for long. Barleybrown is another one to consider, with this longer trip expected to suit after his running-on second at Newcastle last time.

17:20 Coast

A few with chances in a low-grade sprint handicap but Scott Dixon’s COAST arrives on the back of a very good half-length second to Captain Dandy over course and distance on Monday so edges the vote off an unchanged mark. Fellow course-and-distance winner Sisters In The Sky is feared most after his success here last month, although a case can also be made for course winner Miss Calculation and Awesome Spirit who would have chances on their best form.

17:50 Gidwa

The second division of this sprint handicap isn’t as competitive as the numbers suggest and Kevin Philippart de Foy’s GIDWA is fancied to go one better than his recent good second to Bungle Bay over seven furlongs here last time and end his losing run. Veteran Peachey Carnehan, twice successful here in the winter, is always to be feared round here despite a below-par run last time and he’s next on the list ahead of another course-and-distance winner Deputise who has made the frame in his two runs here this year.
