14:25 I’d Like To Know (NAP)
Chris Gordon’s I’D LIKE TO KNOW (nap) has made a rock-solid start to his chase career and he probably had a good bit up his sleeve at Newbury. That didn’t kid the handicapper, but he has the scope to keep improving and his trainer reckons he wants this drier ground. The latter comment is certainly true of Huelgoat and he could be the danger on his return from a break. Joe Tizzard’s two runners should also be on the scene.
15:00 Flemen’s Tipple
Patience is wearing thin with FLEMEN’S TIPPLE but his second in this last year wasn’t his only near miss and forget his last run over fences. The Bold Thady was seemingly expected to appreciate the return to drier ground last time at Ascot only to depart early through no fault of his own. Always Busy is preferred of the others.
15:35 Hilltown
It would be unwise to instil too much faith in any of these but HILLTOWN should be winning races off his current mark and last time here was better. Proper Twelve is the dark horse now sent over this far for the first time and he gets second preference ahead of the frustrating Furkash.
16:10 Saladins Son
This is a modest maiden hurdle and SALADINS SON may only have to repeat his run in the always-strong EBF Final at Sandown to provide the answer to it. Kaituna River is next best in form and potential
16:45 Cuban Court
A very open handicap in which CUBAN COURT earns only narrow preference. His handicap debut was promising and conditions were very testing when failing to build on that the last time. Angel’s Dream (second choice) and Sanitiser give Gary Moore a fair hand, while Macari and the Nicholls handicap debutant Soir De Gala are others of interest.
17:20 Toothless
Pearly Island is the straight-bat option even over a trip that looks short of his best, but TOOTHLESS is worth chancing as the heavy ground was probably more of a hindrance than a help when returning to form on his chase debut at Wincanton. Aggagio will need to jump better than at Huntingdon but he’s still respected.
17:55 Ken Roy
This could go to KEN ROY. He may have failed favourite backers at Kempton but it was still a promising run and a strict form line through the winner gives him the clear beating of Ocean Walz, who could be his main threat unless Duke Of Baddesley is a lively one in the betting.
