This is going to be a slog in the conditions but MICKIE ANGEL showed that he stays this trip when runner-up at Limerick last time on his hurdling debut. With improvement to come he is selected. Annamaymurt and Arion Soldier can give him the most to do.

With a fine effort on handicap debut under his girth, MACINAMILLION can build upon that to get off the mark over hurdles. Johngus ran well over further at this track last time and will be suited by the drop-in trip today. The Banger Doyle, Penalty Try and Ricky Bobby are others who should run well.

Having returned from a huge absence with two fine efforts in novice company lately, DONACHEADY GALE could make up for lost time.

This looks tricky but ALEISH LASS is a young, improving mare from a respected yard and could be the answer. Carrig Wells ran a fine race in this race two years ago but was poor last year. Native Song has won two of her last three-point starts, so looks like a player.

This looks like a gilt-edged opportunity for RYEHILL, who posted a standout RPR of 122 when giving Saturday’s Fairyhouse winner Boss Robin something to think about at Thurles. If he reproduces that form, then the others are probably playing for places, with Glady Max and Ballinrea the pick of them.
16:43 Lifetime Ambition (NAP)
This will probably concern LIFETIME AMBITION (nap) and Early Doors, both big names earlier in their careers. The selection contested last season’s Grand National and his subsequent point form is strong enough to earn him the vote. The West’s Awake has each-way claims.
17:18 Backmersackme
Last year’s renewal of this race was awarded to this season’s Supreme Fourth Asian Master. Whether there’s anything of his calibre lurking remains to be seen but BACKMERSACKME has joined a notable team for £70,000 since winning his point in November. Rock On Jet was only 2l behind the selection on his debut but may have been flattered and feared most will be Colonel Nelson who showed plenty of promise in his sole point.
17:51 Air Of Entitlement
Henry De Bromhead won this race two years ago and his AIR OF ENTITLEMENT is probably a good horse in the making given the ease with which she won her point. Gordon Elliott can no doubt eke out further improvement from Ocean Brew, while the strength of her bumper form entitles Ma Bess to considerable respect.
