13:35 Kempton – Issar DAiry
No rest for the wicked! Cheltenham is done and dusted but ITV Racing is back with a bang on Saturday starting here with a novices’ limited handicap chase over 2m2f. ISSAR DAIRY is in rude health for Gary Moore and has hacked up twice at Newbury. He’s up 8lb for the last victory so is probably reaching his ceiling, but that said in this field I give him every chance. David Noonan takes the ride.
13:50 Uttoxeter – Monviel
ITV also go to Uttoxeter for this handicap hurdle over 2m4f. MONVIEL didn’t take to chasing but back over hurdles last time he showed a bit more when eighth of a big field behind Mothill at Ascot. He’s a well-handicapped horse now and might well have a chance here for Harry Derham and the excellent Paul O’Brien.
14:10 Kempton – Good Luck Charm (each-way)
Here’s a handicap hurdle over 2m5f. West Balboa brings the class but this is a good chance for GOOD LUCK CHARM, trained by Anthony Honeyball with Ben Godfrey taking the mount. My selection has a great racing weight and followed a terrific fourth in the Lanzarote with a similar position and fine effort at Sandown. Has very solid each-way claims again.
14:25 Uttoxeter – Saint Davy
A handicap hurdle over nearly 3m. SAINT DAVY is up 5lb after winning at Sandown last time but I doubt that will stop him for the Jonjo O’Neill father and son combination. He stays well, jumps well, and is most progressive.
14:45 Kempton – Flegmatik
Another handicap chase but this time over an extended 2m4f. FLEGMATIK loves this track and has done this column a right favour this season. If he gets into a rhythm he might well cope with the 3lb rise he got for scoring here two outings ago. Harry Skelton gets on well with my hope for his brother Dan and the team are on a high.
15:00 Uttoxeter – My Silver Lining
The big betting race of the day in the Midlands Grand National over 4m2f. MY SILVER LINING is in great shape this season and despite a defeat last time behind Yeah Man at Haydock I reckon he’s got every chance once again for James Best and Emma Lavelle. The mare is up 4lb for that loss but she jumps and stays and might just want to be delivered a little later having been left in front at Haydock probably sooner than ideal.
15:35 Uttoxeter – Val Dancer
Finally a novices’ handicap chase over 3m. VAL DANCER loves mud and stays forever and can easily bang in a four-timer for Mel Rowley and Alex Edwards. The gelding is still only on a mark of 121 which is workable.
So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
