In the sixth of this year’s Paddy Power Media’s ‘From The Horse’s Mouth’ podcast ‘Cheltenham Countdown’, host Tom Nugent together with former jockey turned pundit Nina Carberry and well-known journalist and broadcaster Rory Delargy, look at the Champion Bumper on day two of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival.

The Champion Bumper betting is quite a muddy picture at the moment. The British challenge isn’t weak at all this year and there are a couple at decent prices.
Teeshan dominated on his point-to-point debut and he followed that up with a win at Exeter and hacked up without being asked too many questions. Whether Paul Nicholls will be desperate to run him in the Bumper, however, I’m not so sure.
I like the look of Let It Rain for Dan Skelton, who gets a mares allowance. She won easily on her debut at Warwick and followed that up by beating Brechin Castle at Ascot in December. Skelton said after that he’ll think about the Bumper so the vibe is she’ll run.
He doesn’t usually talk up his runners unless he really likes them. Her price is too big at the moment and she will be popular. Brechin Castle could also be worth a look at an even bigger price, especially if you agree that Let It Rain could be a good one.
Jasmin De Vaux, who won on his debut at Naas in January when sent off the odds-on favourite, is at the top of the betting for Willie Mullins but if the ground comes up on the quicker side, I’m not sure you want to be on him. I can’t see past Let It Rain as a value bet.
