Kempton 16:30 – Classic Speed
CLASSIC SPEED has dropped down to a very attractive mark and is off the back of a really good run at Wolverhampton, showing plenty of pace in the middle part of that contest. Now dropped back down just over a furlong, he should be suited by the 1m trip. Our rider Oisin Murphy is red hot at the moment, and the young trainer Brian Toomey is making a bit of a splash with only a handful of runners so far.
Kempton 18:15 – Giant
GIANT was probably unlucky to bump into a lightly-raced improver from a top outfit. When we last saw him 143 days ago, he had proven himself to go quite well fresh and has the bonus of being gelded for his return to action. He’s been handed an inside starting position, and again, the man of the moment Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle.
Kempton 19:15 – Smart Champion e/w
This old boy is going to pop up shortly, and we know he has very strong back-class form over this particular course and distance. SMART CHAMPION is now lurking on a mark where he will fall in when we least expect it, and the trainer is having a very decent start to the current campaign. He already has 11 winners on the board.
Wolverhampton 17:30 – Neptune Legend
NEPTUNE LEGEND has had a very decent run of form recently, winning two of his last three outings, including over course and distance. He was a little short of room, but found a gap in time to sail through on the inside and given a bit more pace to run at this time, the race should set up very kindly. From a mark just 4lbs higher, he has to go well.
Wolverhampton 18:30 – Ciotog
CIOTOG is now 5lbs better off for two lengths, with Goldsmith judged on their run at Southwell on the 11th of January. He was starting to eat up the ground late on and now finds himself on an attractive-looking mark. The team have been very patient in waiting for a perfect opportunity. That can be rewarded after his 51-day absence.
Wolverhampton 19:30 – Optik
OPTIK had a really good run in January, winning on three occasions, and didn’t climb a massive amount in the handicap. His two subsequent runs in February were ok without having much luck when we saw him over this course and distance two years ago. He’s a bit of a hostage to fortune as he loves a pace to run at, but that is slightly offset here as we only have a very small field, and he shouldn’t give the leaders too much leeway.
