12:55 – JAGWAR
Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero’s JAGWAR shaped better than the bare result after making a bad mistake at the last at Haydock last time and is given another chance after a narrow defeat at Aintree the time before. Olly Murphy’s Long Draw made a promising start to his hurdle career when keeping on for third at Taunton just after Christmas and is second choice ahead of Nicky Henderson bumper winner Gentleman’s Relish, who surely can’t have been right when pulled up on his Kempton hurdle debut and could prove a different proposition now.
13:30 – DREAMING BLUE
DREAMING BLUE won over course and distance last season off a similar mark and, having been given positive rides over further when third on his last two starts, he could be worth chancing back down in trip and with blinkers tried. Ladronne ran his best race for a while at Newcastle in December and can quickly bounce back returned to a more suitable distance after his stamina was stretched over a marathon trip last time and is next best ahead of last-time-out winners Tupelo Mississippi and Fete Champetre.

14:05 – KNIGHT OF ALLEN
KNIGHT OF ALLEN has been highly tried on both his starts and showed plenty of ability on what was effectively his debut when runner-up to the useful Liari, a winner again since, at listed level at Aintree a couple of months ago and a repeat here could well be enough to see him get off the mark. Wreckless Eric, who showed promise amidst greenness when second at Newbury recently, rates the chief threat. El Battle Bus and The Ron Do Ron are a couple of newcomers to note from the stables of Donald McCain and Gary Moore, respectively.
14:40 – JUNGLE JACK
JUNGLE JACK made an inauspicious start over fences at Wetherby in November. But he’s been given a breathing operation since and looks interesting back over hurdles based on his excellent strike rate. He gets the nod ahead of top-weight Pentland Hills, who clearly retains plenty of ability judged on his fine second behind Serious Operator over this course and distance in December. Ilanz resumed his progress when collaring an even less exposed one at Wincanton last month and merits plenty of respect also despite an 8 lb rise for that success.
15:15 – LIGHTFOOT LADY
Preference in this mares’ handicap hurdle is for the Nicky Henderson-trained LIGHTFOOT LADY, who progressed again when third to Personal Ambition in a novice at this course last month and is now stepping up in trip for her handicap debut. Kay Tara Tara was second to wide-margin winner Masked Dance in a similar event over course and distance last time, and she rates one of the main dangers along with top weight Lilting Verse, who won a listed bumper last season and is another having her first start in a handicap.
15:50 – TOM CODY
TOM CODY ran out an impressive winner of novice handicaps at Newcastle and Wetherby in December prior to a creditable effort in quite a competitive event at the latter track when fourth to Val Dancer last time, so he looks the one to beat back in calmer waters. He can get the better of top-weight Horacio Apples, who won well at Bangor two starts back and looks the type to benefit from first-time cheekpieces. Everyday Champagne won at Ayr on his first start for Nick Alexander before making mistakes in a better race last time and is another one to consider.
16:25 – SANITISER
SANITISER caught the eye when fourth in another conditional jockeys’ event at Kempton in November and is taken to build on that promise off a mark, which is potentially very lenient based on some near-useful Flat form. Churchman shaped well at Ludlow in only his second handicap last time when fourth under considerate handling and heads the dangers along with four-year-old Common Acclaim, who makes his handicap debut. Pollyonesock and My Friend Sean are handicap newcomers to keep a close eye on in the betting.
