What a card at Leopardstown on Saturday. It does, however, look like Willie Mullins holds all the aces!
13:20 – Loughglynn
I thought Loughglynn did well to get back up and win at Limerick when making a bad mistake at the last. He is the selection on the back of that. Predators Gold made a mistake at the last over Christmas otherwise he would have been closer to Caldwell Potter.
13:50 Majborough
It’s really interesting that Willie has stuck Majborough in this contest. If he were to win this, he would be a major player for the big juvenile hurdles in the spring. He won nicely at Auteuil early in the French season so normally Willie doesn’t crack on with them, so it’s fascinating to see him tried so highly at the Dublin Racing Festival. If he is weak in the market though, that may count against him.
14:25 Marine Nationale
I love Marine Nationale. He was a top novice hurdler who won the Supreme Novices Hurdle convincingly from Facile Vega and meets his old rival again now over fences. He looked so good in his beginners chase at this venue at Christmas that it’s hard to fault him. He is the real deal and I am disappointed that Gaelic Warrior isn’t taking him on.
15:00 Fine Margin
I backed Fine Margin when he ran at Haydock only to bump into an Emmet Mullins’ special in Slate Lane. The ground will not be an issue and he is still well handicapped off a mark of 127.

15:35 Fastorslow
I am taking on the odds-on and favourite and reigning Cheltenham Gold Cup champion Galopin Des Champs. He was so impressive at Christmas that very often when putting up a performance of that calibre, it can leave a mark. Fastorslow, on the other hand, comes in here a fresh horse having won the John Durkan Memorial Chase over 2m 4f and he can take advantage. Hopefully, the both square off again in the Cheltenham Gold Cup next month.
16:10 Solness
Joseph O’Brien’s Solness got a hefty hike in the ratings for a success at Fairyhouse. That was his first time over fences on soft ground and it seemed to bring out improvement in him. The way he travelled in the contest and with so much pace in this race, he could be able to take advantage.
16:40 A Dream To Share
A Dream To Share looked the real deal when winning the Champion Bumpers at Cheltenham and Punchestown last season. He was being prepared for a novice hurdle campaign but connections opted to shelve those plans and come here instead now. He’s been kept off the track since April which is far from ideal, but we’re not guessing about his ability. You know where you stand as he looks for his sixth bumper win.
