12:20 – Dysart Enos
DYSART ENOS has made a smooth transition from leading bumper performer to useful novice hurdler and Fergal O’Brien’s mare is impossible to oppose in her bid to maintain her unbeaten record under Rules . Justus wasn’t far from his fairly useful Flat form when scoring at Catterick last time and he looks best placed to take advantage if the favourite underperforms.
12:50 – Storminhome
STORMINHOME was a winner in Irish points and landed a gamble when opening his account under Rules in a maiden hurdle at Doncaster around this time last year. He made an encouraging start over fences at Huntingdon in October, but he hasn’t built on that promise in a couple of starts in better races since. He is worth chancing to bounce back to form with his sights lowered following a break. Maclaine and Okavango Delta both fared a lot better second-time up over fences so are feared most.
13:25 – Some Scope
SOME SCOPE was a winner at Haydock over hurdles and he has made a promising start to his career over fences, building on the promise of his debut when opening his account in this sphere at Catterick in November. He was value for extra than the winning margin on that occasion, too, so a subsequent 5 lb rise looks very fair, and he is a chaser to keep on the right side moving forward. In-form pair No Regrets and Gold Link head the dangers.
14:00 – Champagne Twist
The standard achieved by CHAMPAGNE TWIST when second at Cheltenham last time was good enough to win the majority of novices so, with further improvement forthcoming, he should have the measure of Montecam, who also improved last time. Minella Rescue is an intriguing hurdling newcomer and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the market for a yard that know the time of day.

14:35 – Maries Rock
Dual Grade 1 winner MARIE’S ROCK was unsuited by the way the race developed when runner-up to Bob Olinger in the Relkeel at Cheltenham last time and, given this race doesn’t have as much depth, she is taken to bounce back to winning ways returned to mares’ company. You Wear It Well wasn’t discredited in the Fighting Fifth last time and is feared most upped in trip, ahead of West Balboa.
15:05 – Pyffo
There are lots with chances in this competitive handicap hurdle. PYFFO couldn’t build on his hurdling debut promise when fourth in the mud at Ffos Las but this useful bumper scorer is well worth siding with to bounce back in style now he goes into handicaps under much less testing conditions. Hashtag Boum is feared most on the back of his good recent second here, with in-form duo Paricolor and Jaytee also firmly in the picture.
15:35 – Star Turn
STAR TURN didn’t show much on the Flat, but he has made a promising start over hurdles, finishing runner-up on both starts, and he looks an interesting one for handicaps and can bring to an end the winning run of Little Pi. Daaris and Notimeforanother are possible improvers now handicapping for the first time in this sphere and complete the shortlist.
16:10 – Gwash
GWASH was denied only late on in a bumper on Rules debut at Catterick, so he is the percentage call on the back of that promising effort given there should be even more to come, but a strong market move for Rules newcomers Western Harmony, Disco Davis and Les’s Destiny Star would put a slightly different slant on things.
