Newcastle 17:15 – Son Of Sampers

Son Of Sampers managed to win a tidy little Maiden race at Cork over the minimum 5f distance, showing lots of natural pace. Surprisingly he then ran twice at 6f in some pretty tidy handicaps. He’s now dropped back down to the minimum 5f again and switches onto a synthetic surface for the first time. This looks to be an ideal opportunity to get his head in front for the new yard. David Barron’s outfit already have three winners on the board this year and a 20 per cent strike rate for 2024.

              Newcastle 17:45 – Likeashadow

Likeashadow is becoming a bit of a cliff horse of mine, but there is no doubting he has not reached his full potential for the Alan Brown stable just recently. It was a good try over this 7f trip a couple of runs back and an excellent try over the mile last time, despite racing too keenly. He surely has to get a little bit of luck and find things falling his way this time.

                        Kempton 18:30 – Revolutionise

Revolutionise arguably bumped into a very well-treated runner at Lingfield over this 7f distance last time, and possibly didn’t get the splits when he needed them from a midfield position. He’s drawn right next door to the likely favourite Hieronymus now in box 5, who he finished behind over this course and distance, three runs back. Hieronymus was gifted and easy time on the front end that day and surely he’ll be able to sit on his tail from the next door stall, this time.

                            Kempton 19:30 – Max Vega

Max Vega‘s three runs on a synthetic surface have all been here and also in very tough company. Surprisingly, they have tried to go handy or make the running with him on a few occasions and he is much better when held up off a stronger gallop. There looks a boat-load of pace in here, including Cumulonimbus, Oneforthegutter and Cemhaan, so he may well just get the perfect set up that he needs to produce his best.
