13:15 Southoftheborder
SOUTHOFTHEBORDER was a course winner on his hurdling debut in November but looked in a spot of bother when unseating his rider two out in a Grade 2 here last month when again sent off favourite. But he’s evidently held in high regard and can resume winning ways now Nicky Henderson returns him to calmer waters. Ballybentragh makes plenty of appeal on paper and is the pick of Gary Moore’s trio before market clues. Rock House was third in the Persian War at Chepstow in the autumn and could easily bounce back from a poor run last time.
13:50 Georgi Girl
A few with chances in this handicap hurdle for amateurs but GEORGI GIRL signalled she’s ready to add to her debut success for Philip Hobbs & Johnson White when a very good second to another lightly-raced type, Black Hawk Eagle, at Wincanton on Boxing Day and can capitalise on a handy-looking mark. Nashville Nipper returned from a lengthy absence with an encouraging second at Fontwell last time and is next on the list ahead of in-form pair Him Malaya and Macanogue.
14:25 Mount Tempest
Dan Skelton’s MOUNT TEMPEST is seeking a hat-trick, having proved a different proposition with blinkers applied and returned to two miles, winning over this course and distance in December and then following up at Wetherby earlier this month. With the potential for still more to come over fences, he can score again. Kotmask was going well when falling behind Mount Tempest here last month and the bottom weight could be next best ahead of Keep Running who made all at Taunton last time.
15:00 Rose Of Arcadia
The reliable mare ROSE OF ARCADIA is in receipt of weight from all her rivals in the Grand Military Gold Cup and appeals as the most likely winner judged on the improved form she has shown this season, finishing third in the Sussex National at Plumpton last time. Nestor Park ran well for a long way in a competitive Warwick handicap last time and should have a part to play, while last year’s winner Broken Halo, Golden Sovereign and the veteran Up Helly Aa King who makes the journey from Scotland are all worth a second look.

15:35 East India Express
EAST INDIA EXPRESS didn’t quite come up to expectations in a good novice at Newbury last time when fourth to the impressive Gidleigh Park but he won readily on his previous outing at Kempton from a subsequent winner, so he takes marginal preference over Nicky Henderson’s other runner Spring Note who made all for an emphatic success in a mares’ handicap at Newbury last month. Clondaw Royal arrives on the up and makes plenty of appeal on his handicap debut for Jonjo O’Neill.
16:10 Celtic Ned
A very competitive novice handicap to end the card. CELTIC NED made a good start to his handicap career at Lingfield last month when making most of the running before finishing a good fourth to Tintintin and is taken to build on that and strike for Gary Moore. Gyllen and Wot You Wearing who were first and second at Taunton last time head the many dangers, along with Eloi du Puy, who ran up a hat-trick in the North before the turn of the year, and Nicky Henderson’s Bold Reaction who was gambled on when second at Doncaster last time.
