    13:15 Cheltenham – Victtorino

ITV Saturday gets underway here with a handicap chase over an extended 2m4f. A pretty open renewal. VICTTORINO has looked like a right horse at Ascot the last twice and he’s the value for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch. I don’t think the drop in trip will worry my hope, who travels well, but he is up 4lb for his latest victory and it’s just a case of whether he’s good enough for competition like this. I hope he is.

    13:50 Cheltenham – Royale Pagaille

Up in class here for the Gold Cup trial, the awesome Grade 2 Paddy Power Cotswold Chase over an extended 3m1f. Fascinating race, all of them have claims at their best. There should be a gallop on which really is what ROYALE PAGAILLE needs and while it won’t be easy giving weight away I’ll stick with the big Haydock winner for Charlie Deutsch and Venetia Williams.

My hope has run in three Gold Cups and not disgraced himself and right now he’s rated as high as he’s ever been. His running style should be perfect for how this will work out.

    14:05 Doncaster – Ashroe Diamond

ITV also go to Doncaster Saturday starting with this Grade 2 Mares’ Hurdle over an extended 2m. Hello Willie Mullins! Who does Willie like more? His Son Patrick or close relative Danny? I’m going with the son, and ASHROE DIAMOND who gets 3lb from his stable companion and will enjoy this trip having been beaten over further last time. The Grade 1 Firehouse winner is not short of pace and might still have plenty of improvement to come.

    14:25 Cheltenham – Jonbon

The re-arranged Grade 1 Clarence House Chase over an extended 2m. This should be a gimme for JONBON under his new rider James Bowen for Nicky Henderson. The Tingle Creek winner is just better than this lot and I can’t see a defeat bar a fall etc. Just too good and sets him up nicely for the Champion Chase.

14:40 Doncaster – Welcom To Cartries

Another Grade 2 but for novice hurdlers in the River Don over an extended 3m. This looks a good race. Everything suggests this step up in trip will bring out more improvement in WELCOM TO CARTRIES and I think he will be hard to stop for champion Paul Nicholls and Lorcan Williams. The recent Ascot winner battled on well over shorter and did his best work at the end of his last race.

      15:00 Cheltenham – Love Envoi

Here’s a Grade 2 hurdle over 2m1f. This will be a test for the very useful Lossiemouth on her return and I’m happy to stick with established LOVE ENVOI who chased home Honeysuckle here in March in the Mares’ Hurdle. The Harry Fry-trained runner, ridden by Jonathan Burke, returned this season with a fair second at Sandown where she never looked that happy and I think she will be much better here.

      15:15 Doncaster – Cap Du Nord (each-way)

The Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase over 3m. A terrific wide-open betting heat. CAP DU NORD is thrown in on his best form and the conditions look ideal. Christian Williams is ready for a winner after a quiet spell and there is no better trainer to wait and take a big pot. Cap du Nord has done little of late but that doesn’t worry me at all as he’s down to 122 having been second in this off 125 last year. Jack Tudor rides. A big each-way chance.

      15:35 Cheltenham – Paisley Park

Another Grade 2 in the Cleeve Hurdle over 3m. This is a bit like racing’s equivalent of a nice day out at the old people’s home! In normal circumstances, you would be gagging to take on PAISLEY PARK but the simple truth is he has the best form of these this season and I’d love him to score for Tom Bellamy and Emma Lavelle. Paisley Park did everything but win at Ascot last time when out-rallied by Crambo and there is no you pretender to the crown here.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
