16:30 Big Narstie

Preference is for dual 7f winner BIG NARSTIE, who made a bold bid when runner-up over 1m at Southwell last week and is a big player on this drop back in trip. The pick of the opposition could be Royal Redemption (second choice) and Say Grace who both finished close up in a C&D handicap on Boxing Day.

17:00 Bear To Dream

An open race in which the vote goes to BEAR TO DREAM, who caught the eye with her strong-finishing second at Lingfield 11 days ago and looks interesting on this step back up in trip. Wrath Of Hector had a solid record in classified events last year and he’s feared most, ahead of Monitola, who was a front-running second in a similar race at Chelmsford on Saturday.

17:30 Pop Noodle

It’s Not Risky comes here at the top of his game but he did look well suited by the step up to 1m3f when winning at Southwell and would have made more appeal at that trip or perhaps further.

Yippee is worth considering but another handicap debutant POP NOODLE gets a tentative vote. He looked to find 7f inadequate at Lingfield last time out, when behind rivals with form in better races than this, but there was definite promise in his run, not least because he was checked when making a forward move from well off the pace.

    18:00 Master Dandy

    This can go to MASTER DANDY, who justified favouritism when beating a clear second at Newcastle in November and is open to more progress on this drop in trip. Rebel Path returns after a massive absence but he showed useful form with his win in France as a 2yo and he looks the main danger to the selection.

    18:30 Gustav Graves (NAP)

    Top of the list is GUSTAV GRAVES (NAP), who won in good style over C&D last month and backed that up with a strong-finishing third behind a resurgent rival here 13 days ago. He had three of today’s rivals behind him last time and is a key player on this drop back in grade. The in-form 5yo Resilience is feared most, although Mokaatil could make a bold bid back in trip and Birkenhead is well handicapped if he can rediscover his spark.

    19:00 Tathmeen

    One Last Hug ended last year with a C&D win and is respected off only 1lb higher than for that brave success. Balmy Breese is still unexposed at this trip and has possibilities back in a handicap, along with Peachey Carnehan. However, it might be worth siding with 12-time Tapeta winner TATHMEEN, who is on a dangerous mark and was a creditable third at Newcastle in his final run in the autumn.

        19:30 Mcs Wag

        Several have possibilities but the vote goes to the lightly raced 4yo MCS WAG, who has gone close in two of her last three handicaps, including an eye-catching third over C&D last time.

        The main threat could come from Jumira Bridge, who has seven AW wins on his CV and was a clear second here last Sunday. Smasher ended last year with three solid efforts and he’s respected with headgear added, while another to consider is Lynwood Lad.

        20:00 Louisiana Bay

        Most of these come with risks attached but LOUISIANA BAY has been placed in the last three of her four handicaps, including a close call over C&D on her penultimate run. She’s open to more progress and is a key player on this return to Tapeta.

        Lost In Time won at Lingfield two runs back and he’s feared most, ahead of Virtual Hug, who has reached the frame here in his last two runs.

        20:30 Aeroplane Mode

        Distinction (second choice) is likely to give another solid display but perhaps things will fall right for AEROPLANE MODE this time.

        While he doesn’t look the easiest of rides he would have gone close to getting off the mark at Lingfield last month and a previous good run over C&D backs up the impression he should find a race sooner rather than later. Stablemate Pink Jazz has been slow to drop in the weights but he looked on the way back here last time out and can also figure.
