12:45 Through The Ages
Nachtgeist ran well at Hereford on Thursday and can make a race of this if in similar form but it’s hard to get away from THROUGH THE AGES, who dominated from the front and won by a wide margin at Newbury last month.
13:15 Oxygen
Authorised Speed might well have made a winning chase debut had he stayed on his feet at Ascot 16 days ago and he remains very much of interest but slight preference is for C&D winner OXYGEN, who is 2-2 over fences in Britain. Scarface can improve over fences if and when his jumping is more fluent, while Grade 2 hurdle winner Rock My Way makes his chasing debut and also has claims.
13:45 Classic Anthem
West Warhorse (second choice) and Rock Danse won maiden hurdles last month, while Walks Like The Man ought to be capable of a fair bit better than he showed on his recent hurdling debut. However, Sandown handicap winner CLASSIC ANTHEM has the most compelling form and there’s a good chance he can progress again over today’s longer trip.
14:15 Hititi (NAP)
This can go to improving 7yo HITITI (NAP), who was nicely clear of On The Blind Side when close second to a progressive rival at Sandown four weeks ago and could still be well handicapped after a 4lb rise.
Eldorado Allen kept on for an honourable fourth in last month’s Coral Gold Cup at Newbury and now reverts to hurdling on an 11lb lower mark but a bigger threat to the selection may emerge from Transmission, who was placed on good ground on his first two starts for this stable and might be seen to even better effect on today’s slower surface.
14:50 Dom Of Mary
David Bridgwater’s DOM OF MARY is tempting. It was a quality handicap chase in which Cheltenham’s extended 3m3f appeared a step too far last month and this lightly raced mudlover should have every chance of seeing out today’s trip on an easier track and in less demanding company.
Gold Clermont is hard to knock despite a further rise in the weights and she’s second choice, although Sporting Ace, Foxboro and Rose Of Arcadia are also shortlist material.

15:25 Icaque De Lisle
Soft ground could be a greater obstacle than a 5lb rise for Morfee and one or two others appeal more. Grizzly James could quite easily shrug aside his laboured reappearance and go well but ICAQUE DE LISLE edges preference. He made an encouraging return at Fakenham and this heavy-ground winner should be seen to better effect back under these softer conditions.
15:55 Colours On Canvas
The eyes are drawn to handicap debutant COLOURS ON CANVAS who is by far and away the least exposed of these and could be too well treated for the rest. Bucephalus looks another key player and he’ll be well suited by the ground, while it wouldn’t be a surprise to see better from habitual front-runner Inferno Sacree on a track that suits horses of his ilk.
