12:10 So They Say

SO THEY SAY made an encouraging start to her chasing career when finishing fourth over this course and distance last month, impressing with the way she travelled and jumped for a long way. Beaten only two and a half lengths at the line, she is 3 lb better off at the weights today with the winner, Deep Charm, and it could be a good opportunity for her to get off the mark if taking a step forward with that experience under her belt.

12:45 Moves Like Monty

MOVES LIKE MONTY is an Irish point winner with plenty to recommend him on pedigree, being a half-brother to several winners and from the family of Grand National winner Monty’s Pass. Those with previous experience over hurdles set just a modest standard in this maiden, so it will be no surprise if Moves Like Monty – who has had wind surgery since his point win – proves a class above on his first start under Rules.

13:20 Grozni

GROZNI returned from four months off with an improved showing when starting out for James Owen (formerly trained by Charles Byrnes) at Doncaster a few weeks ago, ultimately proving no match for the winner (beaten seven and a half lengths) but keeping on well to pull clear of the rest. The drop back in trip here is unlikely to be an issue and there should be a race like this in him from an unchanged mark.

13:55 Duyfken

DUYFKEN needs to bounce back from a below-par display at Ayr last month, but he’s well worth another chance judged on his good third at Kelso in October, picking up where he left off six months on from his Perth win at the end of last season. The way he shaped last time suggests he’s ready for this step up in trip and there’s little doubt that he’s still well treated from a BHA mark of 105 judged on the pick of his form.

14:30 Sunday Soldier

SUNDAY SOLDIER showed much-improved form to get off the mark on her handicap debut over this course and distance a few weeks ago, hitting the front before the last and quickly forging clear from there to win by seven lengths with plenty in hand. The manner of that victory suggests she was full value for a 14 lb hike in the weights and another big run seems assured in her follow-up bid, with her fair form in bumpers an ongoing recommendation.

15:05 FriaryRock

FRIARY ROCK bounced back to his best with a comfortable win over this course and distance in November, proving well suited by the drop back to two miles. His stamina ended up being an asset in a race run at a good gallop, staying on strongly to lead in the final 100 yards, ultimately getting the verdict by a length. This will be tougher following a 4 lb rise in the weights, but Friary Rock should remain competitive having won off a still higher mark at Perth in May.

15:05 Will Knott

WILL KNOTT didn’t have much to beat when making a successful debut under Rules in a Hexham bumper in October, but there was plenty to like about the way he got the job done, hitting the front entering the final furlong and keeping going well from there to win by a length and three-quarters. He should improve with that experience under his belt and a penalty might not be enough to prevent him from maintaining his unbeaten record in what looks another thin race.
