When is the Ryanair Chase 2024? Cheltenham date, start time, runners and betting

Allaho misses out once again!

Envoi Allen winning the Ryanair Chase

The Grade 1 Ryanair Chase is the big race of the season over the intermediate distance.

Despite the occasional comment that it is contested by horses lacking speed for the minimum trip and stamina for staying chases, it has been won by a whole host of classy types over the years.

Envoi Allen, that mercurial talent, delivered one of the best performances of his career to land last season’s renewal and become a three-time Cheltenham Festival winner in the process.

The Ryanair Chase had been dominated by Allaho, also owned by Cheveley Park Stud, in the previous two seasons, but the intermediate specialist was denied a hat-trick attempt due to injury and will not be back to regain his crown in 2024.

It looks set to be the most competitive of the open Grade 1s over fences at this year’s Cheltenham Festival and there are 17 fences to be jumped over 2m4½f on the New Course at Cheltenham.

You can run the rule over our Ryanair Chase odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about next year’s renewal can be found below.
