12:05 – Butcher Hollow

Butcher Hollow is a bumper winner at Galway when beating The Other Mozzie – who was a good winner of a Down Royal maiden hurdle on St Stephens’ Day. The  softer ground should not be a problem and with a run at Navan over hurdles under his belt when second to Jogoro on heavy ground, this son of Kingston Hill looks well up to winning this contest.

12:40 – Almuhit

Emmet Mullins normally makes the bookmakers sit up and take notice and Almuhit will do that. Highly-rated on the Flat, he’s disappointed a couple of times on soft ground since. However, he ran very well on heavy ground at Punchestown last season and could just be very well handicapped. in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle.

13:15 – Zanahiyr

Gordon Elliott’s Zanahiyr was rated 155 over hurdles so set a good standard in this Novice Chase. Fact to File and Minella Cocooner have both been beaten in chases already so he could have found a nice opportunity if taking to the bigger obstacles. His trainer would not run him at Leopardstown on chase debut if he had not shown some aptitude in his homework for fences.

13:50 – Home By The Lee

Josepeh’s O Brien’s runner Home By The Lee was a little disappointing at Navan on seasonal debut but did win this race last year. With that run under his belt, he looks the one to beat. Irish Point has won his last three, is progressive but hasd to prove he stays this near 3m trip.

14:25 – Fastorslow

One of the races of the Festive period and could be one of the races of the season, so it’s not to be missed. It’s was no fluke that Fastorslow beat the reigning Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs last time at Punchestown in the John Durkan Chase, like he did in the Gold Cup at Punchestown last Spring.

Martin Brassil’s runner handles soft ground really well and is higher rated than new kid on the block Gerri Colombe. Brassil is a very good trainer and his seven-year-old could just be getting better as he gets older.

Galopin Des Champs should be fitter this time around than on his seasonal debut and it will be a fascinating contest with last year’s winner Conflated and the former Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and winner of this race in 2020, A Plus Tard, also set to line up. Not to be missed.

15:00 – Nine Graces

Barry Connell loves having winners at this meeting and his Supreme Novices Hurdle winner Marine Nationale was very impressive when winning on chase debut at this track on Wednesday. He’s now a short-price for the Arkle Chase at Cheltenham. Nine Graces comes into this Pertemps Final qualifier on the back of a very good run when third at Fairyhouse and could make it another day to remember for the trainer and his small but select team.

15:35 – Patter Merchant

Gordon Elliott has been having a good run and Patter Merchant won at one of the premier point-to-point tracks at Dromahane  a month ago. That experience should stand to the Gigginstown House runner in this small field.
