12:45 – Roger Pol

ROGER POL displayed the stamina and willing attitude that had carried him to a couple of bumper wins to get off the mark over hurdles at Fakenham last month, and with this step up in trip sure to pose no problems, he can continue Jamie Snowden’s excellent run of form on his handicap debut in this conditionals’ contest in which his rider Will Featherstone claims a valuable 10 lb. Magic Seven made it two out of two over hurdles at Hereford last month and he rates a big danger also starting out in handicaps, with Immortal Fame and top-weight Fable also considered.

13:20 – Welcom To Cartries

WELCOME TO CARTRIES shaped with plenty of promise when just touched off on his hurdling debut here four weeks ago and is an obvious choice to go one better with improvement on the cards. The easy winner of his only start in Irish points around this time last year, he was only edged out in the last fifty yards by Beat The Bat when going down by a head on his first start for Paul Nicholls. Leader In The Park, another who was runner-up on his hurdling debut here last month, and Ideal des Bordes, an encouraging third in the same race as the selection, head up the opposition in an interesting maiden.

13:55 – Persian Time

Just the four runners for this novices’ handicap chase. Lightly-raced hurdler PERSIAN TIME shaped encouragingly with his attentions turned to chasing when runner-up at Newbury on his handicap debut/reappearance behind Djelo who runs in the Grade 2 later on the card and he can put that experience to good use. Homme Public was undoubtedly fortunate to win a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time after leader JPR One unseated at the last but still rates the main threat off top weight in his bid to complete the hat-trick.

14:30 – Bad

BAD shaped well, running much his best race since coming from France, when three quarters of a length second to Hansard in the Gerry Feilden Hurdle at Newbury at the beginning of the month and is taken to build on that promise now with Beau Morgan taking 5 lb off the top-weight’s back. There should be more to come from Nicky Henderson’s Immortal who was third over a longer trip here last month and he’s second choice ahead of Jagwar and Titan Discovery, who appeal as likely improvers now making a quick switch to handicaps.

15:05 – Djelo

Another four-runner contest for the card’s feature event, the Noel Novices’ Chase, but it’s an intriguing contest where chances can be given to each of the quartet. DJELO hasn’t looked back since being sent chasing and can take this step up in class from handicaps in his stride to make it three out of three over fences after having something to spare against Persian Time at Newbury. Might I also has better days ahead of him and rates the main danger to Venetia Williams’ exciting prospect, with both Kandoo Kid and Unexpected Party not ruled out either.

15:40 – Brechin Castle

Several unbeaten records are on the line in this listed bumper which has thrown up some good jumpers in the past. Ben Brookhouse’s BRECHIN CASTLE is unbeaten in three starts (including a point) and he could have pulled out more if required when showing a fine turn of foot to win a similar contest at Cheltenham last time, so he’s fancied to add to his burgeoning reputation here. Impressive debut winners Let It Rain, successful at Warwick for Dan Skelton, and Captain Bellamy, who overcame inexperience to make all at Chepstow for Paul Nicholls, are feared most.
