12:40 Castelfort

CASTELFORT showed a good bit of promise on his hurdling debut at Chepstow in October, leaving the impression he would come on a fair bit for that initial experience, so he is the percentage call on the back of that effort, although a strong market move for hurdling newcomers Royal Way, whose trainer has won this three times since 2013, Ithaca’s Arrow and Goblet of Fire would put a slightly different slant on things.

13:15 Kotmask

KOTMASK confirmed the promise of his chasing debut when winning with plenty in hand at Plumpton last month, overcoming a couple of minor errors to score with plenty in hand, and he surely has more to offer in this sphere for his in-form yard.

Ballybreeze didn’t get the chance to show what he could do at Cheltenham on his return and remains of interest, while the selection’s stablemate Hudson de Grugy isn’t taken lightly given his record here.

13:50 Southoftheborder

A small but select field for this Grade 2 and SOUTHOFTHEBORDER looked a useful prospect when landing the odds with something to spare here last month. That performance was backed up by the timefigure, and he’s taken to maintain his unbeaten record up in grade and over a trip he’s bred to be suited by.

Insurrection won a race with a notable roll of honour at Exeter and is clearly very promising, as is Personal Ambition, whose Warwick form was franked by the runner-up at Newbury last weekend.

14:25 Stay Away Fay

Only four runners but this looks a cracking race. STAY AWAY FAY deserves plenty of credit for pulling the race out of the fire on his chase debut at Exeter where he rallied to get the better of the re-opposing The Changing Man, having looked held when headed at the third-last.

This strong stayer will be very much at home on this stiff track, and he is taken to uphold the Exeter form, despite meeting the runner-up on 3 lb worse terms. This represents a significant step up in class for Giovinco, but he is unexposed and clearly very promising in his own right.

15:00 Huelgoat

HUELGOAT will need to raise his game another notch in order to defy an 8 lb rise for last month’s Wincanton success, but he impressed with his strength at the finish in what was a well-run race that day and this step back up in trip could help him eke out a bit more.

Collectors Item is open to improvement as a chaser and, though behind My Silver Lining at Exeter, he may well emerge as the main danger now equipped with cheekpieces.

15:35 Immortal

Though he failed to justify market confidence on his handicap debut at Ascot, IMMORTAL is entitled to come on for that reappearance spin and the suspicion remains that he is capable of a good deal better.

Based on his performance over this course and distance on his hurdling debut, he figures on a handy mark. West End Boy’s engagement at Wincanton on Thursday was abandoned, and he’s an obvious danger, while Impact du Bonheur was behind Classic Anthem over this course and distance last month but, like Immortal, his best days are surely ahead of him and he could step up now switched to handicap company.
