12:00 Storymaker

STORYMAKER is a long-standing maiden, but he has been knocking on the door of late, coming the closest he has to opening his account when beaten a head in third over seven furlongs at this course 10 days ago.

He was doing all of his best work at the finish, suggesting he will be suited by this step back up in trip, and he’s the percentage call in this field. Finn Russell and Girl From Italy, who were first and second at Wolverhampton 10 days ago, can pose the biggest threat.

12:30 Big Zou

BIG ZOU produced a promising first effort when hitting the frame in a newcomers’ event over a mile at Chelmsford last month, the first one to really lay the gauntlet down to the all-the-way winner and only fading out of second place close home.

He seems sure to come on for that run both experience and fitness wise and he looks one of the more likely types in this field. See That Storm is a newcomer to note for respected connections, while Rich Harry should be on the premises again.

    13:00 Belcamo

BELCAMO will have gone into many a notebook after thundering home on his debut over a mile at Kempton last month, displaying clear signs of inexperience in the early stages but finishing to very good effect once the penny began to drop.

He had a hopeless task from his position in the straight but was only beaten three quarters of a length and this sure-fire improver should know a lot more this time. Dashing Darcey lost out only to one who got first run at Newcastle three weeks ago and he’s a major threat with that experience under his belt.

    13:30 Torvar

TORVAR took a few attempts to get off the mark, but a 4lb rise for his Wolverhampton success last month doesn’t look too harsh. He was well backed on that occasion and arguably had more in hand than the official margin suggests, so he’s taken to follow up.

Via Blanca posted a much-improved effort tackling her first handicap when second at Chelsmford last month and may do better still, while Rogue Rosie is likely to be on the premises once more.

    14:05 Light Speed

LIGHT SPEED was in need of the experience on his debut at Southwell in October, but he hasn’t looked back since, showing the benefit of that initial experience when opening his account on his next start at Newcastle, and progressing further to defy a penalty over an extended mile at Wolverhampton last time.

He had a bit in hand at the line on that occasion, well suited by a longer trip, and he remains with plenty of potential now handicapping and moving up even further in distance. Romilda caught the eye at Wolverhampton three weeks ago and is next best ahead of Tiger Beetle.

      14:35 Star Of St Louis

STAR OF ST LOUIS has made a positive start for this yard, winning two of his four starts, both at Wolverhampton, and though he was unable to complete a hat-trick over an extended nine furlongs at that course last time, he did run his best race to date from a career-high mark.

He was just edged out by a progressive sort in the final furlong and that form is worth taking a positive view of, so Star of St Louis is expected to launch another bold bid from the same mark. Crazy Maisie and Star of Epsom head the dangers.

      15:05 Artisan Dancer

ARTISAN DANCER conceded first run to Sea Me Dance when second to her at Wolverhampton last month and, though she was a beaten favourite for the fourth start in a row, she did shape better than the bare result, so she is taken to turn the tables on 2lb better terms.

Recent course and distance winner Fair Dinkum could have more to offer at two miles and is another to consider in a competitive race.

      15:35 Sixties Chic

SIXTIES CHIC took another step forward when narrowly denied over seven furlongs here 10 days ago, always travelling well and produced to lead inside the final furlong but narrowly touch off.

The return to six furlongs can help her and she can make it two wins from three starts in handicaps now. Nordic Glory, Mumayaz and Northcliff are others to consider, while Maharajas Express is one to note in the betting on his first outing for Jack Jones.
