Duc Du Rene and Lump Sum both showed enough in bumpers to suggest they have a future now switched to hurdles, while there is probably better to come from Irish Point winner Chauffeur Driven.

However, ONEWAYWEST appears to set the standard having finished runner-up in a bumper and on hurdles debut. He looks the type to improve further.

13:05 Percy Veering

Not many of these are solid. Frankie Faulkner looked unlucky on his penultimate start and should appreciate the return to a likely testing surface, but preference is for PERCY VEERING who appeared to benefit from a second wind operation when beating a big field at Warwick this month. He is 7lb higher, but remains open to further progress as a staying chaser.

 

13:40 Minella Blueway

Itseemslikeit should be suited by the stiffer test on hurdles debut, while a market check is advised for the point winner Bridget Mary on stable/hurdles debut. However, MINELLA BLUEWAY was a promising third on his first start over hurdles at Chepstow a fortnight ago and this winning pointer has major claims if building on that.

Oak Creek showed enough in both starts over hurdles last season to suggest he could play a part if ready to go after nine months off.

14:15 Kepagge

If transferring his hurdles ability to fences Walkinthewoods could be given a solid chance, as could Georges Saint if building on his encouraging return to chasing at Chepstow last month. Dual winning pointer Felicie Du Maquis is another to consider on chase debut, but the selection is KEPAGGE whose stable won this race last year.

A four-time winner over hurdles, he is a half-brother to three winning chasers so he may turn out to be even better in this discipline.

14:50 Balkardy (NAP)

Both Mario De Pail and Emmpressive Lady return to hurdles off favourable marks so are worth a second look, but the choice is BALKARDY (NAP) who has finished runner-up in both starts since returning over hurdles last month, the latest off this mark over same course and distance (C&D).

15:25 Pageant Meterial

Boston Joe has the best recent form, but there is still a lingering doubt over his stamina. Universal Brook makes the shortlist on the basis that her best efforts have come when fresh, as she is today, but this can go to PAGEANT MATERIAL who has less to prove that many, having dropped 1lb lower than when winning over C&D in March. She will be in her element if the ground remains testing.

16:00 Phantomofthepoints

A market check is advised regarding the stablemates Juby Ball and Mount Washington on their respective debuts, given that the yard had an impressive winner of the bumper at the last meeting here.

Largy Poet is much respected having joined a top yard for his bumper debut after finishing a clear second in an Irish point, but it may be worth siding with PHANTOMOFTHEPOINTS whose third at Ballinrobe in May has been boosted by the subsequent wins of the second (twice), fourth and sixth.
