Mercury Day is better than she showed on heavy ground at Catterick last time and should go well but PITNEY shaped with plenty of promise on his Lingfield debut five weeks ago and he can put that experience to good use.

Flag Carrier (second choice) holds leading claims on form, while Invincible Speed and Mesaafi are interesting types among the others with experience. However, the vote goes to newcomer QUEEN MAKER who has strong credentials on paper and looks potentially above average.

 

18:00 Zachary

Shesashambles and Notre Dame remain capable of better but ZACHARY has taken well to this track and bolted up here last week. He’ll be extremely hard to beat if returning in the same form.

18:30 Lady Bouquet

The rematch between major form contenders Nouveaux and Forgotten Treasure could go either way on the revised terms and bearing in mind their draws. LADY BOUQUET is a solid alternative, assuming her ideal tactics are readopted. Handicap newcomers Tomshalfsister, Westend Avenue and Law Of Average are possible improvers. Second choice is Tomshalfsister.

19:00 True Courage

Most of these have something to recommend them but top of the list is TRUE COURAGE. Michael Bell’s 5yo ran with more promise than the distance beaten would suggest at Newcastle ten weeks ago and he’s on a dangerous mark now. Red Flyer, Appier and Croeso Cymraeg look best of the rest.

 

19:30 Base Note (NAP)

Only eight run but a race of some interest nonetheless. Storm Catcher loves it around here and is still improving, while Greatgadian remains on a handy mark despite a 5lb rise for last month’s Newcastle success.

Believe In Stars created a positive impression at Goodwood on his seasonal return and should be winning handicaps but BASE NOTE (NAP) is fancied to defy top weight. Some of last winter’s all weather form stacks up very nicely and he’s shown himself to have a fine turn of foot if this becomes tactical.

20:00 Sirius White

Despite taking 21 attempts to get off the mark, Nemorum (second choice) has to be respected in another modest handicap. However, he’s taken on with SIRIUS WHITE who looks interesting back from a layoff, having recorded his sole success when fresh. Lupset Flossy Pop has the ability to threaten, provided she’s suited by the new trip.

20:30 Woolhampton

Provided she’s as effective back on AW, in-form filly WOOLHAMPTON may well take advantage of this drop back in class. Almaty Star, who could do well in this sphere for his new connections, is second choice ahead of Song For Whoever who may have more to offer.
