Tonight’s trip is a worry for Upper Hand, whose last run came over 7f on soft and who’s gone 1m, and Zachary, who’s been inclined to pull hard over 5f and finished tamely in one try at 6f. The temptation is to head elsewhere, with TALKING RUBBISH, who’s run fairly in a maiden and a novice on turf lately, preferred to Alfanatical.
17:30 – Graceful Mary
Bulldog Drummond sets the standard but it’s not an insurmountable one and he drops back in trip with new accessories fitted. The newcomers all have something to recommend them but GRACEFUL MARY appeals as a likely type and can provide Karl Burke with yet another 2yo winner in 2023.
18:00 – Neapolitan
There are definite possibilities about Louis Quatorze (second choice) now back at 7f in a hood, and Wonder Smile who looked capable of upping his game here two weeks ago, but there was a lot to like about the way NEAPOLITAN won at Kempton and the extra furlong is unlikely to hold him back.
18:30 – Touchwood
The return to 7f on Polytrack was just the ticket for TOUCHWOOD last week and, as he’s shown he can handle a quick return to the track, he looks the one to beat under a penalty. Several of his rivals slacked off last time but King Of Ithaca (second choice) is likely to prove dangerous if the race goes his way and Mohareb also has a good chance of being involved back on this track.

19:00 – Someones Wish
Providing SOMEONE’S WISH has not had the edge taken off him by a slog through the mud on turf last month, this free-goer should be well suited by switching to 1m back on Polytrack. He raced much too freely but still made it 2-2 in AW handicaps when successful at Lingfield and looks a good candidate for this shorter trip. Villalobos and Got No Dollars make most appeal of the others, ahead of Adace.
19:30 – Lilkian
Alafdhal is interesting on his return to Phil McEntee, while Masterclass and Starsong both have something to recommend them. Recent form is thin on the ground here though and LILKIAN, who won comfortably at Lingfield last week, may be able to defy his penalty.
20:00 – Universal Grace
Suanni and Jacquelina are both of interest at this level but it’s unlikely either will be left alone up front. Street Parade can go well, while Mehmo will be a danger to all if back to form, but UNIVERSAL GRACE is preferred. The form of her C&D win in September looks solid and she wasn’t seen to best effect last time in a race in which the leaders didn’t come back.
20:30 – Bold Ribb (NAP)
Udaberri and Phantasy Mac linger on dangerous marks but this may be best left to the two recent AW winners Moogie and BOLD RIBB (nap). The selection won with plenty to spare at Lingfield on Friday and remains capable of better over this trip. He can defy his 5lb penalty.
