13:50 Newmarket – Capulet
It’s difficult to get away from Capulet and a lot felt he had every chance of turning over Diego Velazquez at Leopardstown in the Group 2 Champions Juvenile over a mile last time. He should get away with racing on fast ground.
At Vimeiro is one I’ll mention at a big price each-way. He missed the break on debut at Doncaster over a mile on soft ground when fifth, beaten just over three lengths when staying on really strongly to earn a decent sectional upgrade. He will improve plenty for the experience and is by Sea The Stars out of a German mare who won at Group 2 level.
14:25 Newmarket – Jasna’s Secret
Jasna’s Secret is by Galiway, so I’m not certain about fast ground for her. She won her maiden on debut at Deauville in soft ground with the runner-up winning easily after that slow ground debut and the 2nd was an easy winner on next start and the fourth was won her next two races.
Jasna’s Secret won again on the same course in soft ground in July and Cristophe Soumillion comes over to ride.

15:00 Newmarket – Vandeek
I’m hopeful Vandeek will handle conditions as he’s won on good to soft and soft twice, including the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville when River Tiber was back in third. While River Tiber may have needed the run, Vandeek didn’t get the run of the race and was still able to run down a really good filly in Ramatuelle who got first run on him.
15:40 Newmarket – Eagle’s Way & Paradias
One of the big betting races of the season, the Cambridgeshire Handicap, where the winner has come from a high draw in the last seven years (26, 21, 25, 29, 21, 29, 28) and the prices have varied too (25/1, 40/1, 40/1, 9/2f, 11/1, 50/1, 12/1).
The favourite Greek Order hasn’t been missed in the market, is two from two in handicaps and the unexposed three-year-old has a high draw in stall 25 too. I’ll take a couple each-way with Paddy paying to 7 places each-way.
Eagle’s Way started off in handicaps on a mark of 67 and won his first four starts. He hasn’t won this season but was only beaten a head in July by Cumuloonimbus. Started favourite at Goodwood but finished mid-division in a race that has worked out well and was fourth to Dual Identity last time at Sandown, finishing best of those who raced prominently.
This 9f trip on a straight track will suit and with only 10 career starts to date, is open to further improvement off a mark of 99 from a nice stall 24 draw.
Paradias has been very consistent and will race from stall 18. Finished fourth at Goodwood ahead of Eagle’s Way and won of a mark of 90 earlier this season at Sandown. Didn’t seem to stay the 1m 4f trip at York last time but a strongly-run 9f could prove ideal for him.
